From what I remember from his debut I didnt think it was that bad. The thing with Wale is idk what his identity is like I cant tell you what type of rapper he is. He does that poetry shyt which is kinda cringeworthy, I guess he's supposed to be the "ladies man" rapper idk
Thats what I'm saying. Out of all the people I listen to or used to listen to, Wale is the only person where I literally have no idea what the appeal is. It doesn't even sound right that I have listened to about 6 projects from him and I don't know what lane he is trying to fill anymore. He's not trap/gangster/conscious/swag/hipster/horrocore/pop/super lyrical. It's not necessarily a bad thing by default, but it's pretty fukking weird for a rapper to not really have a lane. He's just rapping for the sake of rapping with some dope wordplay and poems in between I guess
