What's the Appeal of Wale???

From what I remember from his debut I didnt think it was that bad. The thing with Wale is idk what his identity is like I cant tell you what type of rapper he is. He does that poetry shyt which is kinda cringeworthy , I guess he's supposed to be the "ladies man" rapper idk

Thats what I'm saying. Out of all the people I listen to or used to listen to, Wale is the only person where I literally have no idea what the appeal is. It doesn't even sound right that I have listened to about 6 projects from him and I don't know what lane he is trying to fill anymore. He's not trap/gangster/conscious/swag/hipster/horrocore/pop/super lyrical. It's not necessarily a bad thing by default, but it's pretty fukking weird for a rapper to not really have a lane. He's just rapping for the sake of rapping with some dope wordplay and poems in between I guess

Thats what I've been feeling from him. I've been listening to Wale since 09 before of his first album, which was coo, but I have no clue what who he's supposed to be. He's rapping, but there's no meaning there. It's almost like he's generic or something. Idk.

I see him as a very insecure dude who would be gettin no bytches if he wasnt famous, so I like the fact that he's living it up and enjoying every moment, cocky as hell

Catchy beats, above average lyrics, good flow. Better than a lot of others out today.

I'm from Philly and I first got into Wale right before Mixtape About Nothing Dropped with 100 Miles and Running. Back tracked to Paint a Picture and Hate It Or Love it. I liked all the go go songs and the camp lo influence. I dug all of his music up until his debut album. These days I don't even know what his appeal is.

This is exactly how I got into Wale (back in 07) and how I feel about him now. I don't really check for any of his music today. I hear him on a few MMG tracks and he's pretty
