What's the beef between Andre 3000 and Big Boi about?

big boi hoped on pink matter and sorry.

"It's important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to 'Pink Matter' and 'Sorry.'

I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi's name came up.

I never want to mislead our audience - I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.

I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn't."

I'm def a fan of Outkast and would love for them to do some new music.

And for the last several years 3k has seemed to be kind of a bytch about it and so I gave up that hope a long time ago. But I do believe it's also possible that 3k saw some shyt in the entertainment biz that he wanted no part of. Lot of cats are that way if you pay attention to what they say.

As for that quote above, I actually think it's easy to take it as 3k kinda shyttin on Outkast, but I take it to mean that some fans got it twisted and thought it was Outkast ft FO and TI. And he wanted to make it clear that that was not the case. It was not him n Big Boi collabing in the studio.

I kinda take it as him being concerned about the Outkast legacy and letting people know this isn't "Official" Outkast product.

Well he isn't hip hop but Prince doesn't like performing the same songs at concerts either. Prince is notorious for having people pay hundreds of dollars to see him perform and not play a single song you have ever heard.

That's funny cuz after 3k's 1st performance at ACL or whatever show that was, 3k's set was complete ass, doing shyt like "prototype" and completely killed the vibe. Cringeworthy shyt.

Prince was in attendance and told 3k after the show to "give them the hits" meaning play the jams at the show that everyone knows and can get down to.

People didn't come there to watch him struggle sing slow songs from Love Below.

They could have made the livest concert ever. Hadn't toured or made new music in over 10 years. Do the singles mixed in with some album cuts that everybody knows, get Rae for Skew it on the Bar B, get B Real and do Hand Grenades....Git Up Git Out with Goodie Mob...shyt get George Clinton and do synthesizer :krs:

Could have been real dope

How was it this year? Went last and was only there for Kast

I worked it. Last year through a temp, this year through the actual company. I took vacation and went down. I essentially got paid to stand, listen to bands, and keep crazy white kids from crossing into vip. Next year i'mma just go, and not work it. Had more fun my first year. But it was LIVE.

always wondered what came of this movie
I recently saw it on Netflix too and was surprised. The way they talked about it over the years I thought it was going to be in theaters and be some ground breaking ish. I didn't even hear that it was out.

Glad to hear that. Not doing shows forever, I expect them to have to work out the kinks.

Billy Ocean, I got mad respect for you cuz we usually see eye to eye, especially when it come to the WU but you actin like Dre should think like you do. Dre been made it known he don't give a fukk about money, dude ascribes value to much more important things in life. He probably never really made music for the money and the fame, he made it cuz he is creative, he wanted to express himself, be challenged, and speak his mind to people. Thus he would only want to preform if it provided him with such things he values, he says performing the same shyt that he made when he was in his 20s, in a totally different frame of mind doesn't inspire him or provide really any value to his life and I believe him. He didn't ask people to buy his music or tickets to his shows, he simply created it and other people liked it.

He could have created paintings or sculptures and made money off it while getting the aforementioned valuable experiences, that doesn't mean he should go in front of people and create the same piece of art over and over again. Or let's say he made art and never got paid but experienced such feelings or experiences more than he ever did making music I am sure he would prefer that over what he got from music, money included.

That all goes out the window when you're a duo.

Well why did the negro sign with a major?

If he was all for the art he wouldnt have signed a slave deal with a major...he would have been a boutique rapper that did hole in the walls, spoken word events and CREATE a lane for hip hop in his city..similar to the Good Life Cafe out of L.A. or the Hip Hop Shop outta Detroit ...no just do local shows trying to get on..

Comparing sculptures and painting to rap music....:comeon:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
There is no beef.

Big was tight about the no touring thing, they've both spoken on that situation as far back AS Speakerboxxx/Love Below's release.

Dre doesn't like performing the same songs over and over. Remember the MTV awards when he shouted out "And Now for the MILLIONTH time!! HEY YA GODDAMNIT!"

Alot of artists go through that, especially the creative ones who are always striving to create something new and push themselves in different avenues.

There is No true beef however
I cant say Dre is creative and always tryna create somethin new. Cause he dont make shyt. Like. At all. Lol
