you could have stated that instead of saying people were lying:birdman:

and I know numerous people who work as contractors for companies in your state that make 6figures

Alabama is huge for IT/Govt/Defense companies

I never would have thought of Alabama like that. :mindblown:

You guys should focus more on your free cash flow and stop putting so much emphasis on your total compensation...

You sound jealous because you're in the same biz and not making as much

Maybe move out of Alabama :manny:

There's no reason to be jealous im only 26 make close to 70 grand a year plus the cost of living is low. How do I sound jealous by being realistic?

most of the high paid contractors I work with here are from companies either from the DMV area or Alabama

I dont know how old those people are but my age holds me back sometimes, seniority is everything there. I got less than 4 years in in my field.

the age varies

defense contracting allows you to leap frog people because you can be in your 20's come over here making 200k
it's all about skill, and security clearance level

:wtf: @ this dumb ass nikka. This nikka is typical of the nikkas in this thread.

Things you do when you make 40k a year are not going to make sense when you make 100k a year.

Usually with more money comes more work, more responsibility and more Tolr at the office.

So you going to work hard for all that extra money and not enjoy it?

it's tough to call. right now my base/bonus split is close to 50/50 so it makes it easier to get through the year w all my expenses then stack some dough when i get my bonus check at the end of year. if i made the shift to that business i'd be in more of a sales role so i'd be taking a big cut in my base off the bat. it would definitely take some time to build up a book of business/customers but once i do i'd be eating pretty well off those monthly commission checks. i'd say safely it would take me a few years to get back to a comfortable income level again.

it's also a tough time in my personal life to make any major financial shifts. i'm trying to sell my apartment in the city and i just bought a house in the burbs. there is a good chance i'm going to be paying 2 mortgages at once for a few months until the apartment sells. i'm also going to be tearing down the house and rebuilding so i have those construction costs to think about. just a whole lot on my plate at the moment. but pops and i have had a few heart to hearts and if i decide it's something i really want to do he will have my back.

it's just a matter of taking that first step, and being certain it's truly the move i want to make. :yeshrug:
Wow yeah you got a lot on your plate right now. :wow: like you said probaly not the best time to make a major financial shift. probably best to wait untill the end of the year ..or until you get selling your home off the block.

haha...nah i think you'll make the move sooner than you think. seems like you've been weighing it as an option for awhile now...i remember you mentioning it on sohh. imo honestly tho working for fam >>>>>>>
if i wasn't so passionate about being a stylist... i'd defo be working for my sisters family planning practice. fam is gonna usually have your interest at heart and not just treat you like a "peg in the machine".
