Shocking
i hit 110k last year and nothing changed. i just save most of it now
i aint even pay off my student loans.
i aint even pay off my student loans.

way to take a few sentences and make extra large assumptions about what i was implying. thanks for the rant.
i'm pretty sure i never said people should deprive themselves of joy so their kids could be spoiled trust fund brats.
but when it comes down to making an unnecessary purchase or putting money in my daughter's 529 plan i'm pretty sure i'm making the right decision.
It's the fact that you're implying that decisions like this will allow most to become "good men" as defined above that I'm ranting against.
i never said "good men" either. you seem to be making a lot of assumptions about my posts.
i said i'm confident i'm making the right decision, as in the right decision for my life and my family.
"A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children"
A lot of black people don't understand that shyt at all! Right down to my own damn mama.
it's not just black people. most people don't grasp this concept until it's too late.
Dog, now you're just being obstinate. You co-signed this:
What concept is it that most don't "grasp" if it's not the concept that's presented in the post you quoted?![]()
i was cosigning the general message conveyed by the quote. my goal, as was my parent's goal, is to make life for future generations of my family easier. i didn't think the initial source of the quote meant the word "inheritance" in such a literal sense of the word, as in trust fund for a spoiled bratty kid.
OK, then I'm calling bullshyt on this being a concept most parents don't grasp.
it starts before actually becoming a parent or spouse. people need to start planning and saving before they're married or start having kids. that's why i said "most people don't grasp this concept until it's too late."
I somewhat agree with this. Although, I think it's more hopelessness than not being able to grasp benefits of preparing for the future.

You have to have something to leave first. You're forgetting that blacks have only been on equal, and I use that term loosely, footing with whites for about fifty years. Expecting blacks as a group to have accumulated enough wealth and assets to pass down to the next generation is totally unrealistic at this point.
Life insurance? I thought we were talking about accumulated wealth and assets, not insurance policies. But something is something I guess.![]()
