The D (where it's so cold)
I get what Bilz is saying, Grant Hill falls into that category too, of blacks that regardless of what they do you can't relate to them on any level to the point they almost seem not black (default related race is set to white).

Kobe did wear a suit to one of the Source awards, it's like okay you went to the Source awards (blackness confirmed) but wore a suit (blackness reneged), they were white people there that knew enough of the awards not to wear formal stuff. It's like oH Kobe's too good to wear "urban" clothes like the rest of us. shyt like that will put people off even if it wasn't the intent.

Not at all. I think the whole idea of a race rallying around a person just because they share the same skin color is ridiculous and short sighted. You're apparently ignoring that point just because you like Kobe so much that you agreed with the original statement.

If you think that having millions of dollars, living in different cultures, speaking european languages, etc embodies blackness, good for you. Personally I don't think many black people have much common ground with anything Kobe has been through in life. Very few white people do either. Liking him or hating him based on his race is wildly ignorant from either side.

You're white. Don't act like you know what black people relate to. The nerve of these cacs. :what:

Yet it's ok to refer to someone as a c00n if they don't like someone of their race? So all white people should like Eminem and Steve Nash and all black people should like Oprah Winfrey and Jesse Jackson? What kind of world are you looking for?

I know people that spent their whole life in private schools and regardless of their race, they're some of the most whitewashed people I've ever met. Nothing against them, being sheltered and whitewashed is fine, but it's undeniably what they are. I also know a white guy that grew up in Mexico and he's not very "white" at all. Race, culture, and society is much more than skin deep.

I don't want to come off shallow, but as a black man, I have the privilege to call other black men a c00n if I feel it's appropriate. But a white person doesn't. Just like they don't have the privileged to determine if a black man is white or not. That's just my take. I was just kidding about the c00ning thing anyways. But how is Kobe whitewashed anyways?

Explain to me what you have in common with Kobe and why you would like him even if he wasn't on your team. You're making the assertion that what he is done is so transcendent that everyone in his race should follow him, so it's up to you to explain that nonsense.

:wtf:

Even if me and Kobe didn't have anything, that doesn't disqualify him from being black. You do know there are black people all across the globe right, that grew up in different circumstances and different upbringing than American black. I guess he didn't grow up poor enough for you. Or I guess he speaks too many languages. oh no, I think it's because he went to a private school. Yeah that's it.

Not really, I don't know why race would even be an issue when it comes to liking or disliking players.

Why not? They're racist fans out there:stopitslime:

If Fish and Kobe were white, you wouldn't ride them as hard as you do.

I did? hence why i dapped the post that told him to STFU? I dont agree with that nonsense and it is irrelevant to your idiotic post.

On the other hand, you believe that being black or any race encapsulates a certain type of element. If only Kobe lived in Philly hoods would he be more black to you. That is what your post states and its as idiotic as the doofus who called black people who do not support black people c00ns.

And I dig how white people can tell minorities if they are or are not "acting" their race.

Yeah that's all I'm saying. I don't know why race would become a determining factor for liking a player. With guys like Manny Pacquiao or Yao Ming or whatever, I get it. They're pretty much the only asian representative in a sport that asians typically aren't known for. Even if their upbringings lacked congruency, they can at least say they feel like it's one of their own out there.

For basketball, you have all kinds of options. The average white person probably isn't picking Dirk Nowitzki or Chris Andersen. If you're not German and you're not a dusthead, what else can you relate to there? In the same breath, the average black person isn't going to look at Tim Duncan, Kobe, or Grant Hill and say "now that's a black guy I can relate to" because they most likely aren't. If you're picking someone for race alone, it should be someone from your area or from a similar socioeconomic background. Not someone that is nothing like you and just has the same skin color. At that point, it's just racism.

If Kobe grew up in philly hoods, there would be more black people that had similar upbringings to him but it wouldn't validate Premeditated's claim that any black person that didn't like him was a c00n. This has nothing to do with what a person had to do, act like, or say to be able to "claim" a race as his own and there is no specific behavior that a man can have that should require all other people in his race to like him or dislike him. These racial definitions do not exist except as stereotypes and generalizations.

The comedy in all of this is that if we ranked the upbringings, lives, etc of all basketball players in the league, Kobe is one of the ones that would have the least in common with black people and really all people in general. What about that would make it mandatory for black people to be fans of him?

and the irony that you keep missing is that being black is not one set thing. You wouldnt know that though.
