Not at all. I think the whole idea of a race rallying around a person just because they share the same skin color is ridiculous and short sighted. You're apparently ignoring that point just because you like Kobe so much that you agreed with the original statement.
If you think that having millions of dollars, living in different cultures, speaking european languages, etc embodies blackness, good for you. Personally I don't think many black people have much common ground with anything Kobe has been through in life. Very few white people do either. Liking him or hating him based on his race is wildly ignorant from either side.

I know people that spent their whole life in private schools and regardless of their race, they're some of the most whitewashed people I've ever met. Nothing against them, being sheltered and whitewashed is fine, but it's undeniably what they are. I also know a white guy that grew up in Mexico and he's not very "white" at all. Race, culture, and society is much more than skin deep.
