if we're going to go by my example, the motive is pretty transparent. Who's parents would teach them to fight for and defend random women on the street? Especially women who didn't solicit your help (they rarely do in average cape situations), and yes I assume that reason for most dudes caping, because from experience that's usually the reason exactly.

You have a point here actually... Something about this era that made people very individualistic to the point of being divisive and selfish. Crazy cause when you read philosophy of older generations there is a bigger focus on being apart of something bigger than yourself. It isn't transparent to me. It never has been. Also a large amount of men are taught that putting your hands on a women is wrong from a young age. So it stands to reason that may factor into some men's decision making.
