:ehh: Agriculture alright in Ghana. I know we're one of the chief exporters of Cocoa.

You looking at starting a business or working?

If you're looking to get in to tech, you should look into RLG communications. They're a multinational Ghanaian electronics company. Billion dollar turnover :banderas:.

I'm looking to move to Ghana as well by the time I'm 30, so I've been giving it thought as well.

Forget turnover...what's the EAT ?

Honestly if Africa wasn't a hot bed for bribery, Id be down.

the internet
the article actually didnt say there is a reason to hide.
It said that businesses didnt want to be perceived as only for blacks...and that is correct.
When you open a business you want 100% of the population to feel welcomed (which is why putting a "black owned" sign up is dumb").

The covert tactics helped him to bill more than $6 million over nine years to a white clientele he perceived as racist, as he often encountered potential customers who slammed doors in his face or refused to allow him in their homes, he said.

Sounds like he was doing door to door sales.
This is common for anyone doing door to door.
When was the last time you let someone in that randomly knocked on your door trying to sell something?

According to a 2014 Nielsen report, 55 percent of blacks with household incomes of at least $50,000 said they would buy or support a product if it was sold or supported by a person of color or minority-owned business. Only 20 percent of non-African Americans in the same income bracket felt the same.

this is the only confusing part.
Its not clear what this means. Im pretty sure more than 55% of black people would buy a product from other blacks.
Same with white people.
In fact...I know its not true from experience.
Without having actual data..or being able to talk to the people who conducted the study...we cant know what that means.

The problem I see w/ a lot of B&M black businesses is that they want to advertise that the business is black owned and rub it in everyones face.
Nobody wants to deal w/ someone like that.

If you think you cant open a successful business because youre black...youre just looking for an excuse not to try.

Its 2016 anyway...there is so much money on this internet

White folks been doing this to black folks and probably other miniroties since ever(BET and Ebony):yeshrug:. I'm not happy that they think they have to do that, but it is what it is.

Its old school. The husband took the wife's credit. The owner took the servant's credit. The professor took the student's credit. The researcher took the indigenous' methods. The certain ethnic group took out patents for other people's intellectual property.

Every indian or south asian i know are filthy rich. How do these guys do it? They got businesses and sorts.

Not all but...immigrants see America as an opportunity not a birth right

So do smart first generation diaspora African and Caribbean kids... That's if they escape their parents indoctrination

There's just too many deep rooted issues ingrained within the black community ...

I'd list them but it's best to focus on your needs/wants and keep at it NO MATTER WHAT

It's sad but unfortunately it can be necessary depending on the type of business it is. Obviously if it's something pertaining to hair such as a barbershop or beauty salon it wouldn't be necessary and could potentially hurt your business. For businesses that would have a large or majority non black customer base this could become necessary. Those are the unfortunate breaks living in a white majority country.

So basically even when own our own things we really can't actually employ our folks in certain positions? We still gotta include them, and give them important positions.

Wow:francis:

Wow:francis:

We include them by proxy much like a pseudo drug front.... :youngsabo:

It's like having a nice blond woman being the face of the company but the big black guy who sits in the corner in the shadow making the money and smirking the entire time...

It's kind of ingenious if you ask me. If white people are so easily manipulated by having a white face greet them to spend their money in the establishment because their racists then hey, it's just a business tactic. I mean what white person goes out of their way to NOT spend money at a non-white business all because the owner is black, then we gotta do whatever it takes to get over on them.

They've been getting over on us for years with the same media manipulation, turnabout is fair play... :yeshrug:

I mean I don't like it... :francis: but that's why you have such things like a silent partner and guys who have the 51% share in the company...

How are we not manipulating them... You ever see the studies that a white buyer will not buy from a black seller on craigslist, the same way they wont hire people with urban/ethnic sounding names? We gotta play the game dirty as they are... We gotta do whatever we can... :francis:

I know we're not manipulating them but if we gotta front then so be it
