This is 100% truth unless you have a business that caters to black customer base. What Tristan Walker and Tariq are doing for instance.
Now if you become successfull white people will come running because it gets them cool points.
My reasoning is this pretty much yes.I hate that they have to do it, but I totally understand the tactic. When they reach a critical mass they should probably reveal their black excellence but nothing wrong with getting their weight up first
DamnThis is the sad truth. I know people who have non black people in figure head roles because of this. It actually works out better for them but still..
Real estateWhats your business?
yea articles like these are just bad.I've never hid my identity from my audience and am still successful in my business exploits. fukk this c00n shyt way of thinking and I am very aware of this as someone who has been in business for themselves and as a black man who was responsible for a retail staff and store management. How are you going to reverse a trend if you're not willing to put youself out there? You're willing to succeed and be successful as a black busines but you don't want people to know it['s a black business?
fukk out of here.
If you have a good enough product or service it won't even matter. Even better if you're in the right area. In NYC, that was nothing for me to do. I could imagine it would be more challenging in a non-diverse area of the country with a predominantly white population and a sizeable black population against it and no one else really..
I personally don't like the idea. I guess some black peopel are scared to put their faces out there....that doesn't seem like they proud of themselves. And how are we going to inspire more black men and women to increase black business if we tell them they can't put their face out there when ANY other group of people don't have to do so!!!???? fukk that, I ain't afraid to be a trailblazer. I'm proud of my business and I know I built it up and and no one could take away what I built. Period. I love putting my face out there, cause then people know me beyond the brand cause it's not another white or non-black face doing it. I'm proof to the haters we can succeed...why should I hide behind my business like I'm ashamed of my blackness? fukk out of here....you either like what I got and fukk with me or you don't cause I am the only person doing what I do and there is nothing and no one that comes close to what I do and who I am and that's the whole package! I worked myself up from the bottom to the top and what you see is what you get.
...but once you see them cross someone over, the crowd is like
.White folks been doing this to black folks and probably other miniroties since ever(BET and Ebony). I'm not happy that they think they have to do that, but it is what it is.
Shoulda kept them problems in-house as far as vocalizing it,

The question wasn't "would you buy a product produced by a Black person," it appeared to be "would you buy a product from them because they were Black."the article actually didnt say there is a reason to hide.
It said that businesses didnt want to be perceived as only for blacks...and that is correct.
When you open a business you want 100% of the population to feel welcomed (which is why putting a "black owned" sign up is dumb").
Sounds like he was doing door to door sales.
This is common for anyone doing door to door.
When was the last time you let someone in that randomly knocked on your door trying to sell something?
this is the only confusing part.
Its not clear what this means. Im pretty sure more than 55% of black people would buy a product from other blacks.
Same with white people.
In fact...I know its not true from experience.
Without having actual data..or being able to talk to the people who conducted the study...we cant know what that means.
The problem I see w/ a lot of B&M black businesses is that they want to advertise that the business is black owned and rub it in everyones face.
Nobody wants to deal w/ someone like that.
If you think you cant open a successful business because youre black...youre just looking for an excuse not to try.
Its 2016 anyway...there is so much money on this internet
