Detroit needs to use every pick they have on the offensive line. I'm not defending Stafford because he's average, but he has zero time to throw the ball. Yall saw the pressure Denver was getting every play, just imagine what Seattle is gonna do to that line next week.

Isn't that more a Mayhew problem? Williams,Young, Best, Leshoure, Broyles all flopping couldn't possibly be Stafford's problem

Yeah it is a Mayhew problem. All those were flops intended to help the "franchise, gotta pay him $20 mil or else QB" however. Stafford himself has been a flop but since he's a big arm QB the leash is extra long and the pleas are extra loud.

A lot of Lions fans exaggerate how bad Stafford is. He's not good or above average and I don't trust him to take leads late in games, yet he's not outright garbage. He can win games. He played fairly well in that Dallas game and we should've won it, and would've if not for cac refs cheating.

The problem is the Lions D is average or worse now compared to dominant last year. Suh was a lot more valuable than Johnson at this point, if there was a way to keep Suh/Fairley and lose Johnson that would've been best.

Nelson, Cobb, Adams, and Lacy are all second round picks too. Rodgers didn't "need" the help but they certainly helped make the offense work. Mayhew tried and failed to do the same with those picks. That's the NFL

These two things back to back huh? :heh:

Every QB can win games. That is not an endorsement. You put any QB in the right circumstance and he can win games. Stafford was not brought in to be, nor is he paid to be, a guy who can win you some games if everything breaks right. D might be a little better if all the money and picks weren't poured into the offense.

The catalyst for last years defense was DeAndre Levy. Also in 2015, there is no way I'd ever sign a defensive tackle to a $100 million dollar contract. Especially at the expense of an elite WR. In 1985 or 1975, perhaps a dominant DT had that sort of value. Suh doesn't produce anywhere near the sacks or turnovers to demand that sort of $. As Miami is finding out. I feel our problem is largely coaching related.

What's Stafford paid to do as the 14th highest paid qb?

And nobody had a problem with moving on from those failures, nobody suggested we should pay those guys $20 mil a year until something better came along.

Given that you'd have to pay anyone not on their rookie deal at least $10 million to be your starter. Since that's the going rate. That too. Unless you're talking Michael Vick status

What's Stafford paid to do as 1/7th of the salary cap?

Fixed. What other QBs are paid doesn't help us at all thusly it's irrelevant. We don't get extra wins or playoff consideration because of what other guys are getting paid.

He's paid to have a positive impact that is commensurate to the cap space he's taking up and he's not doing it.

The cost of a replacement is very relavant to the discussion. What you're proposing is saving $5-10 million off a $145 million dollar salary cap to downgrade at the most important position being worth it. For a team that will not have salary cap issues in the offseason due to Suh going to Miami. Lions will have more than enough cap room to be a player in FA, so essentially you're watching Ford's pockets. Martha's straight, I promise.

NFL Salary Cap Space | Over The Cap

Lions are projected to have 31.6 million dollars in cap room for a projected salary cap of $150 million this coming offseason, not counting the possible releases of Stephen Tulloch, Joique Bell & Brandon Pettigrew.

So what's stopping you from getting a rookie and saving 15-20 million?

Keep regurgating garbage about how the qb is the most important position in football and then blame anyone but the highest paid player on the team for the teams failures.
