When did being a decent human being become synonymous with "political correctness"?

the anti-pc argument is don't limit what I can or can't say because you disagree with what I've said.
So while you disagree with the anti-pc crowd you're fine with them expressing themselves right?:sas2:

Also, ppl are just thinking anti-pc is just for race issues, its not and I would honestly say race issues aren't even at the top of the PC BS

The one is just a troll. And the perfect example of thin skinned anti-pc.

I'd go so for as to say that the Anti-PC neocon movement is a direct relation to condescending neo-liberalism.

Breh, neo-conservativism is directly related to aggressive or neo-imperialist foreign policies

neo-liberalism is new age capitalism.

Neither one of them have to do with social distortions.

The anti-pc culture seeks to control language and ideas they don't agree with by painting protest as unAmerican or anti free speech.

Regular, everyday people can protest offensive speech. If the right is going to gain any ground they are going to have to learn how to deal and really engage people instead of trying to silence those they offend.

In a country where black people were considered less than human under the Constitution it's laughable to suggest that categorizing "too many things as racist" is a serious problem.

Apparently calling Trump racist makes us unable to "analyze or engage" with him.:jbhmm: I suppose ignoring his racism will allow us better communication with him and his fellow white supremacists.:beli:

The fallacy here is the idea that Trump and his supporters want to "engage" especially on anything race related. They don't.
lol, the antic culture seeks to control language...?? the anti-pc culture is against protests ??

:russ:

you fukkin liberals have gone full fukkin retard now. EVERYTHING you are saying about the "right" the left is doing.... welcome to backwards land

"PC culture" promotes fakeness. Its the outright suppression of your true feelings to not suffer the wrath of the easily offended. The problem is, like suppressing anything else, those feelings start to bubble up and resentment starts to form followed by a backlash.

Its just better to let people be frank and honest. You don't have to deal with anyone if you don't want to.

I understand this, but its also called being an adult.

There isn't an adult on this planet that hasn't had to work with people he dislikes, or take shyt from an employer they hated or deal with a person they found annoying. Not lashing out and moving on with your tasks promotes maturity and productivity. Without people filtering themselves, everything will turn into petty fights and squabbles which ultimately cut down on effectiveness and efficiently in EVERYTHING in life.

Shaming people for speaking out against offensive language, is trying to control language. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that. :ld:

Yes...

I'd rather people be honest than play pretend...That doesn't mean that honesty will and should go unchecked...That's the problem I have with the PC crowd...You are dependent on censorship via the "PC shield" to protect your feelings...

I'm the exact opposite, I'm dependent on my fists and my boots...Any Jeff Sessions III motherfukker that wants to call me a ****** to my face will be consuming his meals through a straw...Can't talk with your jaw wired shut and will think twice before running his mouth again when he heals...

That's how we used to handle disrespect in this country...Now we rather censor people from hurting our feelings and run around like a bunch of skinny jeans wearing kale eating sexually confused bisexuals because that's what the liberal thought police wants...

I agree, but they sue people now.

We live in a world where people want to be able to say and do whatever they want, but not accept the consequences of their actions. They will want to call you are ******, baboon, c00n, and any other insult they can, but when you chin check them, they want to claim you are taking things too far and then they want to financially and legally attack you.

The problem with this slope is that there is ALWAYS a cliff.

One of the main reasons I went into business for myself is so I wouldn't have to deal with people that I didn't want to deal with. I concur that freeing yourself economically to not have to deal with racists is the more adult thing to do but we're all wired differently

And both of those ideals have a social elements derived from their respective philosphies. This is the same as existential ethics.

But whatever.

wow, you completely missed the point just like so many others.

This isn't about allowing ppl to say racist or hateful rhetoric. Its about not hiding the true feelings of that speech and let the repercussions of those actions come from society.

Most average ppl don't really care for hate speech, most normal ppl are just regular decent folk trying to live. The media got you dudes so twisted from actual reality. What they display is NOT the normal, its sensationalized.

again. anti-PC is not the same as hate speech acceptance.
:comeon: No one is stopping people from speaking their mind. We already live in a society where their are repercussions for saying anti social shyt. But whenever this happens, y'all call it PC:russ:

I know the truth though. You lot just want to live in a mythical world where people do not have to be held accountable for what they say. Some would call that the internet.

Right, exactly. It seems like 9 pages later, we're finally getting to the real crux of the issue.

Black people are in a losing position when it comes to PC or anti-PC. We can't win. They call us ******s, lazy, violent, non-human and if we get offended we are told to take it on the chin. No man can take a majority society doing that to them without creating within that man massive issues (either lashing out or internalizing the abuse). On the other hand, if you attempt to throw your power around and tell people "Nah, that ain't cool." you risk the consequences of having to forever police them appropriately. Problem is, these (white) people can't be language policed (or forced) forever.

Lastly, what people have to understand is that every culture has norms and mores. PC culture was an attempt at setting boundaries. Problem is, as in all cultures, boundaries change and morph constantly. We especially shouldn't be surprised if for us it has changed pretty fast considering America doesn't want to admit past wrongs done to blacks. Heck, one especially crappy thing (though, more of a strange case than anything) that is about to happen is we are going to see more white kids and 20-somethings saying nikka, no "er" variant. I see more white entertainers using the n word because they don't understand what the problem is. Pewdiepie just used it himself recently (dude has 52 million subs and tons of young kids for fans). In about 10-15 years I'll bet you'll hear every white kid on the street using it as if they invented it. It'll be tough for us.

If there's one thing about the current political environment (besides the blatant 'cism) that annoys me it's this.

And I guess Trump exemplifies it, but it's far from just him. But when did "Not being an a$$hole" become a synonym for being "politically correct"? We now seem to be in a political environment where simply being respectful of people and not going out of your way to be an a$$hole is considered a moral failing.

Anybody else starting to feel like this? This whole anti-PC movement seems to be at the point where it's really just an excuse for people to express their bigoted opinions and accuse anybody who criticizes them of being sensitive or members of the PC police.

It's more than annoying these days. :mindblown:

Payments accepted Obamacare,paypal and livestock
:usure: When racism was wide open black men were getting lynched, beaten, tortured and killed en masse in state jails and prisons.

Blacks were openly barred from loans and changes at economic progression.

If you want to go back to that time period nikka, thats on you :hubie:

:picard: Wait what...You actually think those awful things were happening because people could openly express their bigotry

WRONG ...It was the state.

All those things happened because the people actually doing them faced no consequences ...why? because the government itself was complicit ....remember ALL those things were still ILLEGAL at the time..the lynchings ,the murders the terrorism..imprisoning people due obviously false testimony and kangaroo trials.....ALL OF IT

The same government that protected and refused to prosecute the Klan also refused to defend Black people in fact they went to great lengths to disarm Black people and make sure they couldn't defend themselves and prosecuted the ones who did defend themselves successfully.

The era of the KKK finally ended when the FBI finally began enforcing the law...notice they didnt create new laws...they just enforced the existing ones....doesnt that tell you they had been looking the other way all along??

The answer is right there in your question. Because the standard of what entailed "being a decent human being" became politically charged. It became more about words and tone and less about actions. It became more about "my party is the nicest to your group so you should vote for me" and less about "I'm nice to you because it's who I am and how I want to be and you should vote for me because of actual policies I have"

People also became a lot more thin-skinned.

Personally, fukk PC culture. fukk your feelings.
