Read the entire thread to see how wrong you are ...

Oh yeah and act as if hip hop in the late 80's and early 90's never existed ...

I'm truly disgusted by how much of you hip hop fans have no real sense of history

The first words of my statement qualifies it as my own opinion.
I was unaware that you were an expert on what I personally think.
Do go on.

I believe it was Kweli who once said 'if you alive, you conscious... ain't no need to put artists in a box'

That said, there was never any one specific time where 'conscious rap' became uncool... it gradually faded out of favor in the early-90s... because just like everything that becomes cool, the industry finds a way to use it as a cash-in until it's no longer cool. That PE/KRS/Brand Nubian/XClan era got exploited just as much as gangsta shyt did, just as much as the 'jiggy' era did, etc... gradually, it ran its course and rap took a more hardcore turn. It never really went away tho'. It kept going and it still thrives. It was never a 'cool' thing after the early 90s tho'... it was cool for those who weren't tryin' to be thugs or pop bottles at the club, but that's about it. There's always a place for everything in hip-hop- it's only people with their own agendas who would have you believe that only one thing is cool at a time and you can't have several things going on at once. That's why rap has become more and more limited.

you don't need to sit down and listen to a full album to know bullshyt

have you heard a full nsync/backstreet boys/98 degrees album? nope, but you know there's manufactured pop bullshyt on those muthafukkas from what you've heard on the radio or in promo spots :manny:

i heard nothing but murder kill sell dope from that shyt...all my teammates and friends were bumping that shyt.

No medallions, dreadlocks, or black fists it's just
that gangster glare, with gangster raps
that gangster shyt, that makes the gang of snaps,

Funny how Dre and Cube are now worth hundreds of millions..Gangsta Rap only worked for them in hindsight, but at everybody elses expense..all those defending anti Black music, what did you and your peoples benefit from all those negative mind numbing gangsta records? you shook your ass huh, you bopped your head but where are your millions? Dre made complete pansies of us..
