i don't know if OP is white/trolling but it's actually an interesting question. All I know is when I look at yearbook pics from my mom in the 70's EVERYONE had a fro and a fresh lining didn't seem to be the standard like it was when u grew up in the 80/90's. Wether on purpose or not, I think it's a interesting question:yeshrug:

My sentiments exactly

:ld:

When high top fades came around it kinda mattered but whe n the even Steven started popping in 95 it became everything

Not sure why there are nikkas in this thread acting like they can't understand what the OP is saying and coming with that cac nonsense, maybe ya'll were born in the 00s and late 90s but anyone 25 and up knows there is a pretty big difference in haircuts today compared to back in the day with the emphasis on the line, especially if u lived to see at least some of the 80s and all of the 90s. I want to say the mid 90s is when we started to see the shift.

the 1980s were an interesting time for black culture...

Dudes also started rocking earrings when line ups became popular, you never saw dudes with their ears pierced in the 60s/70s.

Early 90s when Mike Tyson was kind get of boxing. when he did it, and later Nas did it as well, it was a wrap. dudes started to go to the barber and getting extra tight line ups every week.

Problem is, people just accelerated baldness faster. No way you could be paying tons of $ every week from age 10, and your hairline be tight at 40. Most people who did that, are bald now.

:comeon:

Lineups have nothing to do with baldness

It's merely shaving hair off

The only time lineups are a problem is when the child is young, your hairline does not mature until you're like 12

For some people, irritation of their hairline and some parts of the head excessively results in permanent hair loss. Reason why it just becoming known is because we the first generation of getting lineups and seeing the long term results of constant tampering of the hairline.

Im trying to get onboard with what your saying, but how do you explain dudes shaving their head bald for 5-10 years straight, and still being able to grow a head full of hair (R Kelly etc)

R Kelly has good hair genetics. Most men aren't so fortunate in the west. A
Other causes for hair loss is stress and diet.

Breh, as someone who's been getting regular haircuts since they were 1 and cuts hair, this is highly incorrect

Lineups is simply shaving, it does not cause balding

ANYBODY EVERY WATCH AN episode of Good Times and just thought maybe cuz they lived in the projects they can't afford shape ups? JJ had the decency to wear a hat but every episode Michael had a shape down.

:martin: ABC could've afforded Barbers on that set
