Carbs is energy. How nikkas out here pushing weight with no energy? All my lifts would fall horribly.

And then what about fruit? People out here skipping on fruit? No wonder so many are unhealthy.
Fruit isn’t necessarily “healthy” for you. Fructose is one of the worst sugars to consume and the nutrients you get from fruit can be gotten elsewhere.

The Truth
I completely understand, however eating a bowl of oatmeal in the morning or quinoa with your dinner will not stall ones weight loss journey.
Do you not understand LOW carbs in general? :dahell:

Keto is basically staying between a lower range in carbs than what you would normally...

In idiot terms at least

True, but most gorge on Fruit daily and thats when the spike is high and stays high. But yeah I have berries pretty much every day, usually break my fast on them.

I do keto and IF to maintain really, when summer comes I am more anal and calorie count to the gram

Yeah true. It all comes back to portions. The amount of fructose it takes to slow down glycolosis (mainly regarding the PFK enzyme) is significantly more than the amount of sucrose/fructose needed to flood your body with insulin.

shyts complicated. I personally rock with IF because it fits me and I don't have to stress over macros like that

I'm not sure either, it's not sustainable in the long term for the average person at all:

Ketogenic diet: Is the ultimate low-carb diet good for you? - Harvard Health Blog

10 Downsides of the Keto Diet You Need to Know About

This reminds me of Paleo and all that other shyt. I remember when my sister did Paleo for a year. She got real thin, looked nice. Yall should see her now. She is fat. She couldn't stick with it. It wasn't sustainable in the long term. I've maintained my weight for years now, eating every food group in moderation with nfg, and working out. People make it so complicated these days. :mjlol:

Each year more and more of these diets, we have out there, and people are still getting fatter and more obese.:wow:

Pretty sure folks getting fatter and more obese NOT cuz of all these diets but because they eating hella carbs and buffets and drinking alcohol whilst not exercising :troll: but let's blame it on the keto and paleo diets that a small minority of people actually try

People who really like Keto stick to it in the same way people who like Veganism stick to that.
You say people make it so complicated but for some folks keto or vegan is simple and fits their life :yeshrug: like eating whatever you want in moderation is simple for you

If you read those studies, part of the reason these diets are hard to study to see how they effect the body in the long term, is because the average person does not stay on them, they are not able to. It is not sustainable for the average person. I know people that do XYZ, great, the average person is not staying on keto for life. The average person is overweight and does these type of diets for 5months to a year, loses the weight, and then goes back to eating the way they were before. In part, because they get sick of depriving themselves, hate what they're eating overtime, sick of seeing everyone else eat xyz, and so on. Again, it's not sustainable for the average person. But if your staying on this for life, good for you breh. Your better than most, that do this shyt for the short term, than are fatter then when they started a year later. :ld:

That's the issue, not the keto diet. The keto effectively makes you lose weight, what you do AFTER the weight loss is on you :francis:

Fruit isn’t necessarily “healthy” for you. Fructose is one of the worst sugars to consume and the nutrients you get from fruit can be gotten elsewhere.

Yep.

Can someone explain what is keto?

Ketosis is just the metabolic process of burning fat. Your body chooses this state when it is low on free flowing carbohydrates.

That's the gist.

I'm guessing keto is the diet that puts your body into a state where ketosis is the main metabolic system in use.

Can someone explain what is keto?

When your body is primarily getting its energy from Ketones\Fat

After your body has used up all the Sugar\Glucose in your blood, your body turns to its fat stores for energy and creates Ketones. Your body uses these ketones to function and even your brain uses them. When you are running on Ketones you are in Ketosis.

For your body to access the fat stores you need to reduce your Insulin, Insulin blocks your body from accessing your fat stores.

So your burning up your fat much easier and quicker
:blessed:

You reduce your insulin level by either fasting or eating little to no carbs.

Tons of these same obese and fat people are the ones doing these diets in the first place. At my job, the fat women and men are either on the whole 30 or keto right now. These are the current fads. And when my sister was on Paleo, there were many overweight people trying those too.

I agree that buffet gorging, overeating, processed foods, junk, gmo, etc are the culprits for why so many are fat and obese, but my point is that if these diets were truly sustainable and effective, more people would be able to stick with them in the long term, and most cannot. With all the diets out there, and weight loss tools that exist, people are still fat and unhealthy. Most of these diets aren't working in the long term.

Carbs in moderation and eating in moderation does not cause weight gain and isn't harmful. But some people need that restriction to keep their weight down--I get it. As long as they can do it forever... It will work. But that's the thing, are people willing to do Keto forever?

And your wrong that few people are trying these diets, A LOT of people are trying these diets. Many of the people struggling with their weight treat these diets like fads, going on them, to lose, losing the weight, then getting off them and gaining that weight back. And the next year rinse and repeat with the newest diet trend.

More and more diets and their variations come out each year. And people trying to lose weight, will pick the most drastic option(that's going to cause significant weight loss in the short term) go on that diet and it works in the short term, but most cannot stick to it. The average american diet is trash, but these types of diets are not sustainable or realistic for the average person, which study after study concludes.

But you got to do what works for you breh. If this is what works for you, and your planning on doing it forever, then good for you. But very few people can restrict themselves for a long time. It is what it is.
