They did get buried. And he wouldn't let Free, Chris, out of their deals...so, ultimately Chris got shelved. And Chris had already started working on a solo album/project. Bottom line, being on Roc-a-fella, hurt them because ultimately Roc-a-Fella dissolved. But also around that time, NO ONE on Def Jam got any push. However, the legacy acts didn't really need it.
As for Peedi, he doesn't work. Dude barely puts out music....even when the rest of them were flooding the city with music, Peedi would only do guest verses here and there.

that Roc stimmy doesn't last forever. You gotta put the work in to stay relevant, especially after like 2003 when iTunes effectively helped slash artist budgets like no tomorrow.
That Peedi 900k budget in 2005 is wild. That's a blessing and he blew it.
In the end of the day, it was on Young Chris to blow and he didn't. He put out like 9 mixtapes between 2007-2009. If you can't blow with that, then idk what more can be said.....
and that whisper flow can only take you so far. Flows gotta evolve. If you can't survive without the whisper flow, then......

When was he ever supposed to blow though? Locked in a deal he couldn't get out of, and sitting on a shelf until like '08. In that time, no one heard much of a peep from him, because everything tied into Roc/Def Jam was in a vault somewhere. The music he was making at that time, never released. It didn't help that he was part of a group, and Neef stopped rappin completely for like 4-5 years. Also, a good portion of the city still weren't behind him until like '09 because of that "snitching" ish. Whatever fans he had before during Roc, had already forgot about him and everyone else associated with Roc, except Kanye.
You only get a finite window to really make something happen, and that's with all of the stars aligning. He pretty much ran out of time. He was never going to blow, HOWEVER, I do think he would've fared better with a Bleek-like push...especially during the Roc transition. Freeway was pretty much in the same boat. He was on the shelf for like 4 years, too. Aside from putting in work with Jakk Frost, and Philly guest appearances, you didn't hear from Free for a while either. The difference is that everyone likes Free, so it was easier for him to gain back momentum, but overall, he's still an underground artist as well.
Also Sparks did get publishing.
