Wu Tang was never weird...I feel bad for those who didnt grow up through that era it seems like many of yall are unable to "feel"
The vibes of that era ...

ya ppl are underestimating how EASILY ppl gravitated toward the kung fu shyt they was on bcuz it was actually cool to watch them shyts...this was already discussed in the wu tang TV show thread (not directed @ you)...growing up in the 80s cats legit used to play w/ actual ninja stars and nunchucks

As an 80’s baby (39 years old) there was little to nothing weird about them. We grew up in a wild era and they were pretty much the result....not much was cool in the 90’a so much as it was about things being “real”....

Have you heard or seen any of the Fu Schnickens stuff? They were pretty heavy into the Kung Fu thing...

I gotta go back and listen to their music then...aside from the names I honestly don’t recall them incorporating that shyt into their music

I was young to experience Wu Tang when they were at their peak and during their rise. With the chinese influence and pro black content were they seen as dope or were they seen as weird and edgy ? I ask because I remember when Odd Future first came on the scene in 2010 some publications were making the comparison to Wu Tang Clan.

They probably compared them to Odd future for the "crew" aspect.

Wu Tang were the absolute coolest when they came out.

If you had their cassettes, knew of of them and their music you literally thought you were part of something special and cutting edge - and you actually were.

Wu tang were known as knuckleheads and trouble makers always getting into fights and shootouts back then ..

Suprised none of them died or did heavy jail time

Cappadonna manager was some low key staten island mob guy who was working for the feds

This was like late 90

So they didnt have the nerd rep even though some of them have nerd interests like karate and comic books

There three super intellectual guys in the group (rza gza deck) but the rest are rapping about regular shyt

Method man could been way bigger but he hated being the rapper girls liked

They had to buy him a car for him to do that puff daddy remix

An once ghost and rea drop cant be so simple then they had the streets locked up cause they dressed like corner guys and mainly talk drugs and fashion

Method man had the weird cross of fans kids loved method man because he was always doing weird shyt to his braids eyes and teeth

He tried to make himself like a movie monster or cartoon charcter

That torture skit from thenfirst wi album sounds like bunch 8 year olds trying to gross each other out

When him and Redman dressed up as beavis and butthead all my friends lost they mind that summer

Then girls like him cause he like movie star handsome and has a lot of chrisma under all the goofy shyt he was doing
