Its kind of funny how willing some people are to give Bernie the benefit of the doubt and dig into the full quote instead of lambasting him for the soundbyte.
I have never seen that done in this forum for anyone else though.:jbhmm:

When you stay consistent for 50 years, people can safely expect you to be a man of your word. No other candidate can make the same claim. Shillary will never get that benefit because people know she's a fraud and the Repubs are 'expected' to be somewhat racist so neither will get the benefit of the doubt.

I think people know what he was trying to imply with respect to institutional racism. It's just that for a long time he had run on a platform where his suggested solutions are going to lift everyone up and that includes minorities. He could not turn on a dime and address the need to look at the intersection of poverty and race differently. His wife was on Chris Hayes show and similarly had trouble disentangling race and class, she even said their campaign is not trying to divide voters by focusing their message on specific communities.

He could have been differentiating between densely populated urban areas and rural areas which poor whites usually inhabit. There is a significant difference.

I guess he was trying to say that there was a difference between how poverty affects white communities and black communities but Grown and Sexy Twitter's spitting out their mimosas.

:dame:"Bernie never talks about race."
:troll:"Actually, Bernie just said white people don't understand the added difficulty of being Black while poor."
:dame:"Yeah... well... I'm pretending I'm offended that Bernie suggested poverty is a Black problem."
:troll:"But previously you've said he must address the major issues for Black people, including econom..."
