Athletes are paid in proportion to the revenue that their skills will bring into the franchise or club that they work for. Very very simple.

If an 8th grade teacher filled up 80k stadiums every week, or 35k arenas 3 days a week, I'm sure they would be paid accordingly.

A better comparison, would be how research professiors with tenure are paid more than 5th grade teachers because their research can earn grants and medical and social and scientific breakthroughs which feed to the endowment of a University.

People seriously saying "anyone can be a teacher" too :snoop: yeah just ilke anybody can do ANYTHING, until they actually try doing it. foh.

High Schoolers Who Struggle With Math Lack Qualified Teachers

According to recent studies on teacher effectiveness, qualified math teachers at a high school level are very difficult to find – especially in places where students chronically struggle with the subject.

How critical is a good teacher for a high schooler having troubles in mathematics? According to Sarah D. Sparks of EdWeek.org, if students don’t catch up to their classmates most of the way by the end of 9th grade, they’re at a much higher risk of dropping out of school before graduating.

STEM and Teachers: The Critical Link - US News and World Report

It's becoming a well-known fact that American students' math and science skills are simply inadequate. We've all heard the numbers. For example, in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study, U.S. 12th graders were almost last among students from 20 nations assessed in advanced math and physics. But what's even more alarming is that within our own country, entire segments of our student population are being denied a high-quality education in math and science.

But who cares though, teachers don't fill arenas so they're useless :dead:

:upsetfavre: People in the free markent aren't paid based on their 'usefulness'; they're paid based on their value to a company. A public educator is, or should be, paid based on their value to the public institution they work for, or the value that the municipality or district sees in them.

If a city and its citizens (teachers ARE paid by taxes) doesn't value education, thats their own fault. You can not compare what an athlete makes and what a public educator makes, they're not scaled the same way.

Crazy are NBA second stringers who get almost 0 minutes on the court.
And backup NHL goalies who might play 5 to 10 games in a season if they back up a better primary goalie.

teachers dont get paid shyt and athletes are the richest people in this country

I don't get it when people bring up this argument.

How many teachers are out there? And how many players are in the NBA?

What's the harder profession to attain?

What's that got to do with which profession has more value to society?

Teachers are here to teach and shape the minds of young people so these little dudes can grow up and contribute to society.

Entertainers are here to

so we can all laugh and shyt. But there is no redeeming value to what they do.

Besides make a shyt load of money for the guys who tell you this is just economics:smugdraper:

And...how exactly do you value education to a society? You can't, because people take it FOR GRANTED, just like everything that is public. If you ask individuals if they want the best education for their kids, they will all say yes, but if you ask them if they are willing to pay 100 $ more in taxes precisely for that, they'll :pacspit: at you.

And I wasn't comparing what teachers do to what athletes do, you were:

:beli:

I hope all y'all saying "teachers are useless", "anyone can be a teacher" or similar bs are at least coherent and don't send YOUR kids to school or plan to do so:ufdup:

Exactly. And just about anyone can get a liberal arts degree and a teaching credential and teach long division to 25 8 year olds. It's not like the NBA where LeBron and Durant are using skills and abilities that literally no one else in the world has.

Mrs. Jenkins is making 40-50k a year teaching a bunch of little kids and there are 200-300 guys playing basketball for hours a day at my local gym for no compensation. On the macro level, neither Mrs. Jenkins or these wack ballers make a blip on the national radar. LeBron and Durant are out there entertaining millions, they wouldn't be making shyt if they stayed on a local stage.

The professors who are proportionate to the elite 0.0001% of professional athletes are out there doing just fine. I bet Tony Robbins makes more than any athlete anywhere because he is bringing his services to millions of people and not just 25 people within a 0.5 mile radius.

Nothing in this country is proportional to value in society. Its all about supply and demand.

Not all teachers should be teachers, but there are a helluva lot more people that can be good teachers than can play in the NBA.
