Can't say I'd really have him on my list of top emcees...but he's probably the greatest complimentary artist ever. I don't intend that to be the backhanded compliment it sounds like. Tip's style and strengths matched perfectly with Tribe's aesthetic.

As far as production - Q-Tip is Top 3 to me.

I grew up on his vocals, so I'm sentimental about his albums, but his beat game is damn near unparalleled. Dude can win Grammies with Esperanza Spalding, give Solange some heat, do the diva thing for Mariah and Whitney, be on the crest of the neo-soul wave with the Soulquarians, have input on 'Watch The Throne' and then double back and lace cats like Pusha and Roc Marciano, and then give his own group a classic after an 18 year break. I don't know if there is a more versatile producer in the genre.

And he's doing it at 30 years in. :mindblown:

And that's before we even talk about him putting Dilla on.... :wow:

And you didn't even mention that he was responsible for most of the production on the 1st 3 Tribe albums.

3 of the greatest albums in Hip Hop history hands down.

Tribe is the Beatles of Hip Hop, only difference is Rock heads respect their legends, and will never put any albums over the Beatles classics.

No matter if they're 18 or 80.

You look at any Rock album list, and Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, Abbey Road will probably be 1,2, and 3 in varying orders depending on the list, at least all 3 will be in the top 5.

Tribe pretty much pulled off the same shyt with their 1st 3 albums, but there's some young dikkheads that'll make a list with some shyt like Slime Season 3 over Low End Theory.

We stay losing. :snoop:

Production wise: 23:jbhmm:

Raps: 36:manny:

The thing with Q Tip is that he's the epitome of a producer rapping to rap. Meaning, he's straight but I prefer the beats over the rhymes. It's like Madlib being in the top 5, but rap wise being in the top 50 because :ld:eh...unless he brings Lord Quas to the mix which is an automatic top 20:obama:

But he didn’t come to the game as a producer so I def disagree. I’m in agreement though that his solo work is unremarkable- cool, but confusing considering he’s the clear frontrunner of Tribe. I love Kamaal the Abstract and Renaissance though.

Charles Hamilton is one of the best producers in Hip-Hop history
and one of the best emcees of the past ten years....people are sleeping extra hard on him

:wow:Dap+Rep. CH does wonders with samples. Some shyt that I have never seen from most producers. Like only this dude would put drums over a heavy produced track like this:
