News person.
Currently don't have a job and don't know where I wanna go in this business so things are going great 🙃 but I do have an opportunity that would put me in a lead position in a top 10 market at the age of 32 which is kinda dope.
I have no life plan I was sposed to win the damn Powerball and be retired by now :damn:

Coasting. Finishing up a three-year study. About to have enough publications to make tenure. Just accepted a new job offer. And got invited to develop courses—not even teach em—for $9000 per course. And I work from home. So I can put my collars greens and pot roast on in the morning, and chill while waiting on bae to tell me all about what happened at work.

Currently a contracted scheduling coordinator for one of the FAANGs. Want to become a recruiter or an administrative business partner, but it’s easier said than done apparently.

I just applied for the ABP job, but got declined for “minimum qualifications” even though I previously have 2 years of experience, when the job I applied for requires one :stopitslime: the thing I hate about my company is that internal references are king, and I currently work remote, so it’s hard to make any real connections with people.

I got my contract extended for another year (same pay) so I know I’m doing something right, but it seems like I’m going to have to leave this company to get a better paying job elsewhere. I would love to stay at my current company in a permanent role

Did a career transition last year and moved into a business analyst role at a fintech company (mortgage industry). Right now, I'm just focus on getting better with creating reports with SQL and building dashboards in Power BI. The area that I'm in is growing so hopefully, I can pivot from this position to somewhere else to make more money in a few years. I'm making a good salary for someone who had no technical experience beforehand but I know that I can get more $$$ once I have a few years under my belt. Overall, I'm cool where my career is at now.

Sometimes, you have to give your current employer the peace sign in order to get what you want :stopitslime: .

Been in HR for the last 10 years. Have my Masters and certification, so there's not much more I need to go further beyond continued experience.

Up until 3 years ago I was in fairly middle management roles making ok money in University settings before I decided to step outside of it. In that time I've job hopped around 3 different places, all in Director level capacities, 6 figures, before returning to the University I was at, but a higher, better paying role than where I was before.

I learned over the 3 places I've worked at that I have no desire to be in or near Senior Management spaces and if I can make comparable money with less visibility and less need to work with organizational leadership, I'll take it. Worst experience was working with/under a CEO. I'm making great money, hybrid work schedule, low stress but challenging and fulfilling work and I'd be content to stay in my current position for the next 20 years, contribute to my retirement and enjoy their match, retire, just enjoying annual increases and keeping the flexibility to enjoy my family life.

If anything, I'd probably try to venture into more personal/passion projects for additional income flow, just for my own joy.

In short, as it relates to my core profession, I'm good where I'm at.

What do you have a masters in?

I’ve been trying to find an entry level HR job but everyone wants years of experience for an entry level spot :francis:

I’m working on my masters right now so hopefully things will work out

I've been on autopilot for the past three months. I'm a Team Lead job in the Healthcare/Insurance field and the main reason I've stuck around is the transition to WFH. Interviewed for a Manager position within the Department earlier this month; Didn't get it and overall glad I wasn't picked. Still would have been remote but the amount of responsibilities would not match the increase in pay for internal promotions, but had to give it my best shot since higher-ups were looking.

Next Steps:
1. Build my savings back up to 3-6 months; spring spending has me broke
2. Another $15k-20k on top of that by the end of the year. Going to study the markets more over the next couple of months because I know this months crash is far from the last
3. Stack a Second Shift WFH job? Getting serious about Certs? One or the other will happen this summer
4. Beef up my resume and job hop in 2023? Probably. Hate doing that but its the move to increase my salary until I get my own Full-Time Business off the ground.

Being head hunted for director and ceo level positions but haven’t made the leap yet. Might be able to make more while living a comfortable lifestyle doing consulting which I’m side-giggling quite profitably at the moment.

Been in IT support long enough to make pretty good money.

Solo IT person at a startup. It’s not where I want to be, but it’s probably the best place for me right now. There’s a lack of structure that I use to my advantage when it comes to projects.

I know what I want to do next, I just need to get my skills up.

HR Management.

Getting your Masters will definitely be a leg up, especially in more entry level roles so good shyt. I went from being offered and only being seen for front level jobs to manager/director level with my Master's, so I can attest to that.

I got my start in call center environments and I swear by them for anyone starting in any kind of office workplace for the skills they help cultivate. For HR, look for Shared Services environments that let you get a taste of all sides of HR and see where you may lean. I was in recruitment for 2 years before I got my first real taste of HR in a shared services environment at 27 and that was basically a HR customer service rep job, but it was 60k annually and union, with OT and great benefits.

You're Knick brethren, I'll hit you up to discuss more if you're interested.

About to finish my first year in a Ph.D. program for Industrial Organizational Psychology. Honestly I could’ve stopped at my masters and started making money but i chose to continue bettering my research and statistical skills and setting myself up for more opportunities.

If i want to get a job straight out of the program I need to improve my programming/coding skills so thats where my research is heading.
