Where did this myth that the "cool kids" from high school have terrible lives after come from?

I can't hate on that. I was in line to a concert a few years back, and some older dude was bragging about how he was a high school basketball star. "I dropped 40 on Juwan Howard", is the one quote I remember. It was kinda lame, but at the same time I would have probably done the same if I was in that position.
i do this shyt... FOR my homebody

he don't even be around... like he's in PA and i'm in VA now

but don't let you bring up kobe bryant around me

nikka WHAT? my manz dropped 30 on that nikka in high school :ohlawd::troll:

A good one. :troll:
seriously tho.... think about jay-z

nikka went to high school, or same area, as biggie, busta, etc

or queens bridge... project with nore, nas, mobb, mega, etc etc etc

imagine if those nikkas never made it in rap.... they'd be the cool kids.. who was always battling, some sold drugs, probably missed a lot of school, even dropped out... but was young, fly, had bytches, had dudes wanting to be on their level

in the inner city, that's all day.. fukk the football team, THAT nikka always got the new jordans.... and he already got a car

yea that nikka wasn't the shyt no more when he tried competing with actual MEN with money and carS and a home and a damn job

It comes from the fact that there are still people bragging about their HS days from decades ago yet they have nothing interesting to say about anything after that HS period.

Like 80% of my graduating class :dame:
I know nikkaz who still brag about HS football games :martin:

Every "throwback Thursday" :beli:

lol same here and thats what the stigma comes from. A lot of athlete nikkas can't let go. I go on old homies IG's and they still posting pics of our senior football season....16 years ago:snoop:

*fixed* :snoop::snoop:

Pretty much:huhldup: and the team was 5-5 and missed the playoffs.

I can see it being real for low income communities, or people who only had sports...

But I grew up in the burbs, so most "popular" kids did well in school also. Half of taking interest in college, and feeling as though you need to have your career figured out is a form of conforming socially anyway, so it makes sense that popular kids did what was necessary to get into college.

Story time: was anyone a weird in-betweener in high school? lol I didn't really go to parties or anything, didn't even bother going to prom or homecoming. But i never got made fun of, I was cool with alot of the "popular kids", I had a good personality and randomly had hot girls around me. I think looks somewhat saved me in high school xD despite my "odd and distant" behavior, girls thought I was "cute/hot". I remember the hottest girl in school would kind of be on my nuts all the time (I didn't do anything about it, because she had a bf at another school and tbh I was just distant about this stuff lol) But i remember nikkas hated me for it lol.

If i had to classify myself, I think i had the mysterious art kid rebel thing going on or some chit to these people xD

This described me in high school almost to a T. :ohhh:

I never understood why underclassmen prom is even called homecoming in HS? :stopitslime:

The world HOMEcoming implies that there would actually be someone who peaked in high school hard enough to attend one as a grown ass man. :wtf:

It's just a coping mechanism particularly for the kids that were bullied.

To be honest, not all bullied kids come out great and some cool kids do actually come out great.

I think it usually boils down to your choices and what you believe about yourself post high school.

If high school still plays a huge relevancy in your adult life and you ain't no principal, teacher, or have a kid in h.s. yourself, well it's time to reevaluate your life.
