This is a serious thread by the way. I've been thinking about it and there is literally no one in the league that can stop him. I used to feel the same way about Tony G and Gates. And Sharpe back in the day. When you get a 6'5+ tight end with hands and some speed, there's just no stopping him.

This is why I think claims that Lebron would have made a solid NFL tight end are legit.

Antonio Gates: 6'4", 255lb, 39" vertical, claimed 4.5 forty
Lebron James: 6'8", 275lb when big, 39" vertical (44" claims are with run-up), claimed 4.6 forty with no practice

The rest of those guys are shorter and slower, with anywhere from 4.56 to 4.68 forties and certainly lesser verticals. They're bulkier, but Lebron shows every indication that he could get even bigger if he tried.

Lebron was 1st-team All-State at wide receiver as a sophomore in Ohio, offered scholarship to tOSU, had 52 catches for 1,000+ yards and 15 TDs his junior year.

His gets baseline to baseline in 9 steps, his hands are obviously great for basketball and football, and he plays more minutes than anyone while still being able to take on heavy responsibility at both ends, so his endurance is legit. And he avoids injury like almost no one we've seen, considering the impact his body takes on a game-to-game, year-to-year basis.

He'd basically be Antonio Gates 2.0.

Yeah phisically I think he could hold up, just not so sure mentally.

Gronk is amazing, i don't want to throw shade but his numbers are aided by the pass happy rules in place today. Right now he's top 10 IMO and can keep climbing the list.

Imagine shannon sharpe being able to get free releases from the LOS because you can't touch guys or be physical with them or even hit them like you could back then. This era is different then 10-15 years ago as the game is opened up more for offensive players

Lol @ anyone 10-15 years ago being able to keep up with Gronk. I hate the Pats, but it's ridiculous to say he's only top 10 because you think passing numbers are inflated. He catches THROUGH multiple people and can run through multiple defenders. You really think there would have been guys manhandling Gronk at the line of scrimmage at any point? There's no position out there that can cover him properly because of his size and athleticism, it's not because of the rules, it's because he's too big for corners/safeties and way too fast for linebackers.

Gronk was a non factor this season in the 2 games without Brady. You can say he's coming off an injury but he was a 6'5 ghost in weeks 3 and 4.

How much of gronk's success can attributed to tom brady???

Yeah that baffles me considering Gronk is an extremely physical player. He has no fear of contact and can muscle his way with defenders so I don't think he'd struggle in any era.

I was a Tony Gonzales stan being a Chiefs fan and I'd take Gronk over him. Gronk gets a little more longevity and I definitely think Gronk takes the top spot from him.

Tom Brady was a ghost a few seasons ago without Gronk. It goes both ways and has gone both ways.

Julio Jones also had a few bad games this season, hardly anything to shyt on a guy for.

:what:...they drafted them in the same class...Rob went in the 2nd round, Aaron went in the 4th round....they wanted to pair them up similar to what they have with him and Bennett now....

Hernandez the killer was putting up similar numbers as the 2nd option and was more durable.
