This is why I think claims that Lebron would have made a solid NFL tight end are legit.
Antonio Gates: 6'4", 255lb, 39" vertical, claimed 4.5 forty
Lebron James: 6'8", 275lb when big, 39" vertical (44" claims are with run-up), claimed 4.6 forty with no practice
The rest of those guys are shorter and slower, with anywhere from 4.56 to 4.68 forties and certainly lesser verticals. They're bulkier, but Lebron shows every indication that he could get even bigger if he tried.
Lebron was 1st-team All-State at wide receiver as a sophomore in Ohio, offered scholarship to tOSU, had 52 catches for 1,000+ yards and 15 TDs his junior year.
His gets baseline to baseline in 9 steps, his hands are obviously great for basketball and football, and he plays more minutes than anyone while still being able to take on heavy responsibility at both ends, so his endurance is legit. And he avoids injury like almost no one we've seen, considering the impact his body takes on a game-to-game, year-to-year basis.
He'd basically be Antonio Gates 2.0.
