Unfortunately low, because of Hakeem, and how his knees took him out the game on a sour note :sadbron:

But, he'll always be my GOAT center :salute:

Okay the Mournng pick was a homer pick being a heat fan and growing up in Miami :pachaha:
You will NOT change my mind on the David Robinson pick. :hmm: fukk you.
Dwight is still young so i expect him to surpass Ewing. They have as the same amount of championships (0)

Finals appearances
Ewing - 2
Howard - 1

Defensive Player of the Year
Ewing - 0
Howard - 3

League leader in rebounding
Ewing - 0
Howard - 5

League Leader in Blocks
Ewing - 0
Howard - 3

I mean outside of Ewing's sicker than life fade away I dont see why i should pick him over Howard :manny: Go ahead and make your point. I'm listening

Kidd only made 9 All defensive teams

Pat played in a tougher era, against better comp at his position, and he also didn't come close to playing with as much talent as Reed did. The best player Ewing played with in his prime was John Starks and he NEVER had a legit 3 his entire career.
thats not true tho, is it?

Reed played against Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Bellamy, and Lanier. Just saying

Does the point really have to be made that Howard has garbage competition at his position? Do you honestly believe that Pat wouldn't eat Howard live in a game?

dwight leading in those categories is more a function of competition at position more so then being better. I can assure you dwight howard isn't winning DPOY, block or rebound titles playing from 85-98, with the likes or dream, d rob, rodman, and other greate defensive players like payton, mj, cooper pippen etc...

Pat's fade away J was the wettest jumper I've seen by a center (even better than Hakeem at some point) but homie was a stiff in a some of ways. He was not the best lowpost defender which is Why Riley always had Oakley and Mason defending lowpost scorers. it was not just to keep Ewing out of trouble.

Look Ewing was nice. But like i said i EXPECT a healthy Howard to surpass him. Say what you want about that goofy clown but HE PRODUCES when hes healthy.

As for David Robinson. When healthy I wouldnt take anyone not names Olajuwon, Oneal or Duncan over him. End that discussion right now.

So what you want him to do? Take a time machine ride? The man plays whoever is on the court against him. It's not his fault the competition is shytty. Bottom line is he has the hardware and Ewing doesnt.

I'm not saying it's his fault, im simply providing context to the argument.

Ewing today would be the best big man by far, back then he was 4th best. That's the difference between being first team all nba and being 3rd team or not even making it in some cases. Dwight plays against weaker competition, that's not a knock on howard but it is what it is.

Ok you got Kareem and Wilt, Russell was on the decline in Reeds prime, some of Bellamy best years were with Reed as a teammate, and Lanier reached his prime when Reed was already on the decline so they didn't really match up in their primes for a long period of time. Ewing was going up D-Rob,Hakeem,Alonzo,and Shaq while they were still in their primes.

How is hardware the bottom line when we're comparing two players that played in different eras? Even in today's shytty era for centers, Dwight Howard averages less points and blocks than Ewing did. Dude shoots 57% from the line.

Among Centers I have seen because Kareem and Wilt were before my time:

  1. [*]Duncan T.
  2. Olajuwon H. (really tied for 1st)
  3. O'Neal S.
  4. Robinson D.
  5. Howard D.
  6. Mourning A.
    [*]Ewing P.
  7. Yao Ming (should have been top 5 if not for health)
  8. Smits R.
  9. Brad Dougherty

:yeshrug: Whether just or not, Duncan's goin' to the Hall as a 4, so not sure why u have him on that list

You're a Knicks fan. You are biased as I was when i listed Mourning over Ewing as much as I tried not to be

Let's just agree to disagree here.

For the record I'm not a Dwight Howard fan by any means. The fact that he wears a Lakers jerzey makes me dislike him even more. But given his talent and his youth I expect him to end his career better than Ewing.

Now if you tell me you dont like his game because he relies on athleticism 98.99% of the time? YES.. I AGREE. Same exact reason I always preferred Duncan over SHaq. But If you ask me who i'm picking between the two on MY team i gotta say as much as i like to root for my fellow caribbean brethrens (my bias for Ewing) I gotta go with the goofy clown everyone loves to hate

Pippen averaged less points than all the following players SFs but was a better player than all of them

  1. Cedric Ceballos
  2. Dominique Wilkins
  3. Glen Rice
