It's not really a myth, the bs comes from the fact that people are making the black community look like the only ones are homophobic. Which is a HUGE lie.

How are we more tolerance of Gays than whites when every gay rights issue has been championed by whites? Specifically white men?

White men with money and white privilege who were able to leverage their agency within safe(r) space enclaves they had to create to get away from the rest of white society.

There's no modern gay rights movement without the black civil rights movement, moreover, Stonewall doesn't happen without the persecution and fight back of black gays.

The gay movement rode off our wave back then just like they ride off intersectionality and black feminism now. White feminist and white LGBT copy our humanist appeal for rights after they try and fail to make essentialist legal gender and sexual claims. The gay gene nonsense for instance which many white gay advocates pushed in the 90s has largely been abandoned for a more holistic approach of sexuality, largely fostered in gender studies spaces, which again were bolstered by the fight for African/black centered departments in these schools.

The whole pseudo woke generation and LGBT acceptance we have now comes out of the scholarship and advocacy of black folks. Marginalized people get their weight up off of us and then go on to flex like it didn't happen. White gays are no different.

MLK and his ppl wouldnt let James Baldwin speak at the march on Washington because of Baldwins sexuality. Black militants in the 60s considered homosexuality a threat to black masculinity and they still do. Thats why Huey Newton advocated for gay rights in his famous speak.

We may not run gays out of our communities or kill them like other cultures but we shun gays. Boys are beaten my male figures for acting soft, men get threaten when theres PDA with other men....parents keep their children away from Gay men...thats homophobia.

I don’t know of the accuracy regarding the bolded when MLK’s right hand man and next in command was Bayard Rustin, a known gay Black man who spear headed the March on Washington.

I think the black community is no more homophobic than any other community. Could we treat gays nicer? Probably. But the majority of us aren't insulting gay people on a regular basis. Or even at all because most of us don't interact with them regularly.
