Where would Iverson rank among guards if he played today?

The Truth
I swear I think this section of the forums have to be infested with lil kids or just nikkas with short memories and even shorter IQ’s.

AI was one of the greatest players to ever lace up tennis shoes. Wasn’t nobody “checking” AI in his prime. He shot a lot because he had a shytty team but he still dragged them nikkas to the finals against crazy odds.

Most of AI’s downfall came from basically being blackballed by the NBA and personal shyt.

At his absolute peak dropped in the league today, it would depend who you talked to. He would be a top 5 PG for sure and would arguably be the second best PG in the league behind Steph. Iverson is an All-Time ball handler and athlete at the guard spot and I agree nobody talks about his ability to play off-ball off screens.

Bruh this is a no handcheck league. Who in today’s league is gonna check one of the all time fastest guys with all time handles and finishing ability? His percentages would be way up. This nikka was also a great passer too, he would be a monster today.
A.I. played without hand checking breh. The team defensive schemes of today and he himself with poor shot selection could limit himself.

Imagine any PG today besides Curry and maybe Kyrie taking a game off the 2001 Lakers with Aaron Mckie as your 2nd option.:mjlol:

People keep bringing up hand checking. The league eliminated hand checking in 1994. AI was not effected by hand checking.

If he played today he wouldn't be considered that good...

He came up in wannabe Jordan era...where every star player basically iso'd and thru up 25 shots a game...if you could put up 26 points with 26 shots...you was considered a good player back then...

Iverson pretty much failed due to his style of play...he ran off Larry Hughes, Jerry Stackhouse...

He dragged a crappy 76ers team in the crappy East...and after that he was nothing but a first round or 2nd round knock out...

Went to the Nuggets and he was shipped out after 2 seasons...he actually put up decent stats his first year...probably should've learned how to play with another offensive star earlier in his career instead of ball hogging...

His stats are bad...

He played 42 mins a game to put up the numbers he got...while guys like Curry put up the same numbers in 32 mins, guys like Lillard putting up the same numbers in 36 mins...

AI was the epitome of a volume scorer. Guys like Lillard, Curry, Harden blow him out of the water.

Allen Iverson is more of a cultural icon than a good basketball player...favorite player of all time...one of the most talented players to ever play...but a good basketball player?

Nah...

Chauncey Billups was a better player than Iverson....

The problem with AI is there is no evidence to support that he can play on a squad with 1-2 other scorers. In today’s league you basically need 3 all stars if you want to do any real damage, the one man team thing won’t get you anywhere.

If I we’re building a team with the intent of creating a super team that can win rings, I wouldn’t have AI anywhere near it.

So from a team standpoint I wouldn’t touch him. From an individual standpoint he’s about as talented as anyone who has ever played the game.

Kyrie would barely make the playoffs with that team. This thread is blasphemy.

A healthy Kyrie would’ve did just fine on that squad
He’s a better shooter, ball handler, and finisher than ai
And not as much of a liability defensively

But I.T. is a MUCH better outside shooter...meaning you have to play him honest from 3 which opens up his drive AND he has shown to me a much more willing passer than A.I. was.

He may be, but bottom line fg% for both players is 43% and 42.5% respectively. Iverson already ate up zone defenses his one year in college and there's no reason to believe Iverson would not have adapted and developed a long range shot.

End of the day, if IT can thrive in today's NBA Iverson definitely would, if you disagree, that's ok.
