And his 3 straight L IS well deserved too

Martha
Not denying that :yeshrug: I'm just saying, those losses definitely weren't Karma for Anderson. If anything, Anderson's losses to him were Silva's Karma for acting like a jerkoff for half his prior fights in the UFC - not engaging, dancing around for no reason, showboating during fights with little action, etc. It finaly caught up to him. If it wasn't Weidman then it would have been somebody else - let it go.

Playing in the NFL is tougher then mma

Dude has no chance

I'm not sure what position he even plays(did he even play football in College?)... aside from that, he's 33 years old and the NFL is a young man's game, most cats his age are finishing their careers up at this point.

Very hard to see him making even a team's practice squad, let alone the active roster on gameday

He's 33 trying to make this change, it ain't happening

Yeah, speaking again to this point:
NFL players over the age of 30 have become a dying breed. Almost 92 percent of the players on opening-week rosters in 2016 were ages 29 and under. A sizeable chunk of the 30-somethings still playing also is comprised of quarterbacks and specialists, positions that inherently don't involve the same amount of physical contact as others.

That doesn't begin to factor in the issue of him not having any tangible technique... he's basically starting from scratch against guys 10 years younger. It's hard to see anything coming of this.

The NFL has better athletes

I agree with the second half most definitely and yes they have better athletes but it's really a apples to oranges comparison. You can't just get by on athletism in mma, where in the NFL it happens more of then not.

UFC might as well retire its 205 division after this, it has literally 2 legitimate contenders: one of em is pushing 40 and the other is suspended till July :mjlol:

DC better enjoy his corny WWE wannabe promo now cause the GOAT will make him cry at the post fight presser once again if the rematch does happen

:dahell: all the divisions have gone through up and down phases. most of the divisions are very competitive at the moment with several contenders who could be the champ at any given time. LHW needs (and has) some new blood injected into it. Manuwa, Tyson Pedro is coming up, Gustaffson is still there, OSP. but they do need some new talent to get in there and be competitive.

half the MW fighters these days would have been fighting LHW 10 years ago, which is one reason why the MW division is so stacked right now, where 10-15 years ago it was the LHW time.

He neutralized DC's offense and controlled DC in the clinch.
:ufdup:he didnt rely on his length he fought DC's fight to prove a point... and its the only reason the fight looked close. DC admitted he gassed and that Jones out grinded him post fight. He wasnt better than Jones in any way that night.
:ufdup:Dont disrespect my cocaine goat!
Not to mention JBJ took DC down at will. When Jones took him down and then patted him on the head, you could see DC's spirit get officially broken.

Also looking at the fight metrics:
Jones: had 3 of 5 take downs, DC: 1 of 8
Landed striking % Jones: 51%, DC: 35%

I can go on, JBJ dominated DC at his game and that fight was not close like @RubioTheCruel said this "rematch" is being pushed because of how weak the division is and the story line.

I wonder how much longer DC will fight, he's pushing 40 and he has to cut so much weight.

Anthony Johnson's corner was angry, confused by decision to wrestle Daniel Cormier at UFC 210

MMA fans weren’t the only ones shocked by Anthony Johnson’s gameplan at UFC 210.

Confusion reigned in Johnson’s corner during his rematch with Daniel Cormier in the pay-per-view headliner at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

According to corner audio from the event, Johnson’s cornermen pleaded with him when he elected to wrestle Cormier (19-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) rather than engage in striking. They begged him to disengage and keep his distance, and expressed anger when he didn’t.

At one point, Johnson’s longtime striking coach Henri Hooft exclaimed, “This is stupid.” Between rounds, Johnson said nothing. When Johnson (22-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) submitted to a rear-naked choke in the second round, he exclaimed, “Why, why the (expletive) does this happen every (expletive) time, man?”

These excerpts from Johnson’s corner tell the tale. Apparently, the fighter’s retirement plans weren’t the only surprise of the night.

Round 1
Voice: Take your time. Nice. Take your time. Don’t take him down.

Hooft: Don’t wrestle him.

Voice: If you’re going to go, go single.

Hooft: You don’t have to wrestle him, AJ. Just relax.

Voice: Don’t wrestle him.

Hooft: Get out of there. Get out of there.

Grappling coach Neil Melanson: OK, stud. Now, let’s get your hands hot.

Voice: Why is he wrestling him?

Hooft: This is stupid.

Voice: Why is he wrestling him?

Hooft: (Expletive) it, man. Just get off the cage.

Voice: Get out of there.

Voice: Why isn’t he listening?

(Johnson and Cormier are broken up by referee John McCarthy, and Johnson lands kicks.)

Voice: He’s tired already, DC. He doesn’t need to do this.

Voice: Why isn’t he listening?

Hooft: I don’t know why he’s doing that. We have no (expletive) eyes.

Break between Round 1 and Round 2
Hooft: Can you tell me why you’re wrestling? Now, you’re not going to wrestle. You take your distance. Stay away, two steps away. Why are you so worried about everything? The kicks and the knees are really good, but no kicks. Where’s your hands?

Voice: You’re doing great. Don’t (expletive) wrestle him.

Hooft: If you stand your distance, it’s an easy game. Why make it difficult?

Round 2
Hooft: Movement. Athletic. Movement. That’s it. Take your distance.

(Johnson reverses against the cage and goes for another takedown)

Hooft: You need distance.

Hooft: I’m not saying nothing.

(Cormier has Johnson on the mat and is setting up a choke)

Hooft: It’s going the same as last time.

(Johnson submits to Cormier via rear-naked choke)

Hooft: Why, why the (expletive) does this happen every (expletive) time, man? Crazy.

After the fight, Johnson surprised the crowd and retired from the sport. He sought out Hooft before he made his announcement, but Hooft was nowhere to be found.

“I gave my commitment to another job,” Johnson said. “Something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. It’s not MMA related or anything like that. It’s just time for me to move on to something else. I’m tired of getting punched by guys and rolling around on the ground with guys.”
