Both produced by Alchemist. Same lyrics, different beats. The original version that was a Stillmatic bonus track in 2001 was the first time I heard it. It was on my copy. Not sure which version I like better. The 2nd version came out on Lost Tapes in 2002 and is the one with the break beat. They have very different feels IMO.

Ghost & Rae stamped that Barry sample by the time Lost Tapes came out so Stillmatic version gets my vote.

That's definitely something that made me not like the Lost Tapes version as much when it first came out. But as the years have gone by I rarely bump The Watch anymore but I listen to Lost Tapes a decent amount. The Watch is fire though. I like ALC's beat better, but I like that Barry's vocal sample came in on The Watch.

I think at this point I like the Lost Tapes version over the OG Stillmatic version though, just because I think the song works better as one long ass verse without the hook cutting in.

also, im about 100% sure the OG wasn't on Stillmatic bruh

It was, I still have it. I can't remember if I bought the CD at Best Buy or Circuit City, but it would have been one of those 2.

This is what the back of my CD looks like

Tru, I think that's why I like it too. Sounds like Nas just spazzes and makes the track cohesive and raw.

Yeah Nas blacks the fukk out on there. When they drop out the music and just keep the drums and he's still going

"Watch out for paints chips. Don't want no lead in your child. But them gangsters put lead lead in your child..."

OG all they way... both fya, but that OG hits the soul, havent heard these in a min

+rep

Thanks man. I bumped both on the way home from work. I think I like the OG better as a song, and it brings back those memories of me thinking Nas was kind of done and just how dope Stillmatic was. But then the Lost Tapes version I think was a better for for that album.

At the end of the day I'll just cop out and say it's honestly too close to call and they're both equally fire.

Speaking of Lost Tapes and 2 versions, there's also 2 versions of Fetus, right?
