there are known ways of fending off sharks. it's not easy, but just gauging the shark's eye with fingers will back it off, a knife and i'm sure you could go for 5 minutes

there's no way you're fighting off a lion with a knife nor outrunning it

If you're lucky you can hang onto its dorsal fin and poke its eyes without damage to yourself or let it grab an arm while trying to poke its eyes out. Also, if you flip a shark upside down it goes into a trance.

You're gonna be dead long before you do any significant damage to a lion with that small knife. Even if you hit an artery, you're still gonna be torn to shreds.. you'll both die.

Lions are INFAMOUS for eating you while you're alive. That's literally like, their "thing". They eat their prey alive.
