there are known ways of fending off sharks. it's not easy, but just gauging the shark's eye with fingers will back it off, a knife and i'm sure you could go for 5 minutes

there's no way you're fighting off a lion with a knife nor outrunning it

yea because the average human being is able to gouge the eye or stab a 10 foot predator in its natural habitat
