Anyway to answer the question in the OP.
White allies are necessary and useful, but not in the way some of you are framing them.
Your use of the word “conscious” and the video you posted as an example seems to relay that you want to be understood and loved by them.
That’s now how I view an ally. That’s how I view a friend..
I view “ally” is a military term that means that you share a greater common enemy..An ally can hate your Black ass and not want you to ever date his daughter. They might not share your values or world view at all.. They may be your ally during one battle and an enemy in another. Depending on time and circumstances.
What makes them an ally is that they are willing to take either protective or adversarial ACTION to help you accomplish a win.
So yes white allies are necessary. But the guy you posted in the OP doesn’t appear to be an ally. He’s just a Cac talking on YouTube.
And yeah I might sound jaded. But it’s 500 years in the game too late for this Pollyanna shyt..

2. the first step of a white person becoming an "ally" is for them to actually understand the situation as we see it

I think we need ex military, down south, 2nd amendment whites like him to present perspectives contrary to the common narratives in the white communities down there...
