I don't know if white privilege was at play with him winning unanimously since he was that good, but it's definitely at play with people saying he should win MVP and all that.

There's been so many great defensive players throughout the years. Many were not only the best player on their team, but willed their team into the playoffs with their abilities. Ray Lewis, Troy Polamalu, Reggie White, Deion Sanders, etc. Heck there were years where some of those guys were clearly the best player in the league period and not just on defense. They still never got MVP. All of a sudden an extremely marketable white boy has an incredible season and people are willing to dismiss his team NOT EVEN MAKING THE PLAYOFFS to give him the award? Get outta hereeeeee.

And the "he catches TDs too!" thing is mad annoying. A few gimmicky plays on offense are cool and all but let's chill with the "HE DOMINATES BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL" narrative.

I like JJ but it's gross how blatantly hard their pushing dude to be the face of the league. A defensive player on a losing team MVP? Stoppppppppp. It's absolutely white privilege. Not his fault but it is what is.

22 sacks and 4 forced fumbles vs. 20.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 1 interception

I guess it was that 1 interception that made Watt UNANIMOUSLY better than Houston on defense?

But you're in here arguing that 2 sacks make Houston better. Stfu

:manny:They did finish 9-7, for what it's worth (which is very little in the grand scheme of things).

JJ Wat just copped that cabin in the woods for the offseason too:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...--to-train-for-next-nfl-season-154850638.html

Much like Sylvester Stallone in "Rocky IV," J.J. Watt is training in the "middle of nowhere" to defend his title.

While Balboa chopped wood and lifted a sack full of rocks with a pulley in an old barn somewhere in Siberia, Watt — who will almost surely earn his second NFL Defensive Player of the Year honor when the Associated Press announces the winner on Saturday afternoon — will retreat to a remote log cabin in Wisconsin.

As if The Legend of Watt — a darkhorse candidate for the league's MVP award as well — could grow any greater after blowing up Elmo on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" earlier this week, the Texans defensive end shared his plans to go all Bob Lee Swagger and Bon Iver this offseason with the Houston Chronicle on Friday.

“It’s really minimalistic,” Watt said. “The only thing I have to focus on is training and that’s the way I like it. There’s no frills, there’s nothing to distract you up here.”

His description of his new offseason home: “It’s just an empty space and a log cabin and snow.”

Altho I dont necessarily think its white privilege. It was obvious bias from the media..they like JJ personality better. This is a Media award so...

The fact you put up very little argument proves that. Why do you think Watt was head and shoulders above Houston??

So basically what the media is telling me is that JJ Watt is unanimously better than a player who had more sacks than him and forced the same amount of fumbles...

So they telling me there is not even a way to make a case for Houston being better than Watt?

Ok...
