Woke was used iby Black people way back in the 80s and 90s. Spike Lee even had it in one or more of his movies.

Let me give another example. Being “woke” can involve knowing Democrats were the bad guys back then, but it can also be knowing that the civil war was based more on sectionalism than parties, because Southern Whigs and Southern Democrats were holding Congress hostage. There’s usually a discourse involved trying to understand the correct context of information. The nuance of being “woke” is really non partisan. It’s not siding with progressives or conservatives. I meant to say usually when you’re having “woke” discourse in the black community there is discourse over the dress and wearing the dress in this community is not considered woke. It means you got caught in the White power structure as a pawn if you’re doing it for upward mobility. Whereas these conservatives think wokeness is pushing for dresses. If you’re a black man you hear the dress shyt sometime in your life so when you hear these crazies talk about wokeness wants men in dresses you think”?”

Yeah brother, that all makes sense. It is about context. Republicans know what they're doing with the word. This shyt and Trump is jus their only 2024 strategy as inflation continues to dip month after month, and their big hail marry to keep their "base" engaged and bring back that magic they had in 2016, 2017 when it felt like America really was coming on to white supremacy as something socially acceptable, and moving against diversity and equality.
It really reflects the conundrum the right wing has put them in. Turning their party into a bandwagon of a corrupted media, corrupted figures, and a corrupted voting base that are all relying on each other's corruption to stay active.
