Nope. Poole’s cap hit is 28.71 million and will reach 35 million at the end of his contract. Julius’ is 28.23 million and will reach 32 million by the end of his. That is still Randle

This is disingenuous. Randle contract is two more years and they are on different timeline by the time Poole is hitting 35 both Brunson and Randle will be on new higher contracts probably in the 40+ Mil territory.Nope. How? His rookie extension is a 4 year 128 million dollar deal the same time RJ signed a 4 year 107 million dollar deal extension… just a year after Randle signed a 4 year 117 million dollar deal extension and Brunson signed a 4 year 104 million dollar deal. This is disingenuous. The number looks crazy but it’s actually better cap wise that Poole is guaranteed for 4 years pre-cap raise.

It’s a one year difference not 2. He’d be the highest paid player on the team for 3 more seasons. I wouldn’t hypothetically sign a 32 year old Randle for more than 30 million a year, idc what the cap looks like.
The mistake with Fournier was he showed no ability to operate off the bench or help a winning team. He had been a starter for a bad Orlando team and put up shot there and then was ok with Boston for half a season. Then when he and Kemba went to the Celtics they had a productive year together based on Fournier working offballI dont wanna double down on a mistake because we made one before lol
they need not make the same mistake with allocation

Forsberg: Fournier-Walker connection among encouraging C's trends
Some interesting trends have emerged of late for the Celtics, like the Kemba Walker-Evan Fournier dynamic. Our Chris Forsberg shines a light on some positive developments as the playoff push comes to a conclusion.www.nbcsports.com
The problem with Fournier was:
Meanwhile Poole can create for himself, and if brought here he would be part of the bench. You compare him to Fournier, but Grimes filled that position and need. Poole’s role would be more like Derrick Rose’s when he use to play with IQ and Burks as a bench trio. What Thibs did with Rose/IQ/Burks, he could do with IQ/Poole/Hart. Which to me makes sense because the bench on the low got the Knicks a playoff run in 2020 next to Randle. Then as Rose got injured the bench play fell off. Now in 2022 the Knicks bench failed them in the playoffs.
- At the time the Knicks FO thought he and Kemba would come here and maintain the production they had with Kemba attack and Fournier living off ball. Once it was apparent the Knicks didn’t have a PG, Fournier struggled like everyone else.
- The FO did not know that Grimes would come in and look like he deserved minutes at starter by the end of his first season because he could score off ball AND play high level defense
- Fournier was giving a chance to start AND play off the bench this season and he looked bad both defensively AND offensively.
Randle is taking that option fam.Julius and Brunson have a player option in 2025 when Julis would be 30 and Jalen would be 28. They both would only be under contract for two more years.
Which reminds me… we might have made some money back on IQs extension after that playoff showing. No way he’s seeing over 100 million right? The major difference between what was Rose was for us and what Poole would be, is that Rose closed games for us night in and night out because our starting PG sucked.
Poole is not playing ahead of Brunson, and somebody has to guard the other teams ballhandler which would be Grimes (or Hart). And even then, if Quickley gets back to cooking offensively, he also gives you much better defense, who do you think Thibs will play down the stretch?
His only real chance of seeing crunch time minutes would be if the Knicks went super small and, again back to Thibs, our coach is not going to stomach two guards working the EZ Pass booth at once. That's what got Fournier benched in the first place.
Tying that much money to a guy to give us 20 something minutes a night off the bench is not the move, regardless of whether we can do it. I'd rather hope IQ gets over his playoff jitters and kick the tires on cheaper options that I know Thibs will allow to contribute.
At 23 years old there is no guarantee he can’t learn defense, also depending on the matchup he could finish. If RJ is shooting like shyt maybe you want to go Poole if he is hitting everything. Plus you realize his contract barely puts him in the top 50 players before we seen salaries rise. The major difference between what was Rose was for us and what Poole would be, is that Rose closed games for us night in and night out because our starting PG sucked.

Breh is a two time all nba, all star now and might continue. Why wouldn’t he get a new deal for more money?Randle is taking that option fam.
I think he is a 4/55 - 4/60 player based on what he has shown. $100 Mil is some bullshyt Bobby Marks made up but he was guessing.Which reminds me… we might have made some money back on IQs extension after that playoff showing. No way he’s seeing over 100 million right?

I don't agree with this..
I remember many situstions where they went out of their say to speak on Randle as a mentor and teammate.
I really think Julius' issue is he is his own worst friend. I suffer from that. If my production or performance is subpar in my eyes, I internally go hard on myself.
I also remember seeing Julius bonding with teammates in game.

Bro don't try to play me.Everybody that makes more than him, is either starting for their team or on the last year of their deal. He won't be either of these things.
These are too many what-ifs to have for trading someone on a fresh 9 figure deal. You must be like an actual "fan" fan of this dude lol

I'd love Kuminga on this team, but I don't see the Warriors trading him (with Poole) without a return that pays immediate dividendsBro don't try to play me.
If anything I like the team the knicks have now and have looked at the offseason with the idea of running it back, but better. Just like last Summer, I have no interest in gutting the team for a star that can't take them to a championship.
The Knicks need a bucket getter and Poole is a bucket getter, and if they could get him and Kuminga (aka the big combo forward they needed all season). It fixes holes on the team they had all season that the Heat exploited in that series.
