You never heard of hypothetically speaking before? You can't be that fukking stupid.

1. Your hypothetical is trash. Poorly put together and ludicrous. Not even talking about artists in the same genre. The fukk did you get Michael Jackson from? :mjlol:

2. Why even talk in hypothetical? Situation doesn't call for it at all. We're talking about a very clear moment in history.

But sure, pretend your comment was bright :russ:

you: it'd be like.... Chief Keef makes a song saying "3 hunna on you hoes, no woman no cry"

and nikkas start referring to hoes as 'no woman no cry'.

20 years later, Chief Keef gets more credit than Bob Marley

Never heard no one use that stan shyt around me, not even in passing. I'm giving Em the vote because homeboy obviously created the context on how Stan was initially used and Nas applied it. Only see this Stan shyt online and white people are heavy on these hiphop forums, especially when it comes to Eminem. I'm giving Em and the white hip-hop community the credit. Nas usage of Stan made it okay for black people to say it without sounding corny while white people on various hiphop forums were already using it. Let the white boy eat, nobody saying that Stan shyt in the streets.

Easily Nas......the way he used it towards Jay is the reason it has the meaning/context it does. It was just a name of the character in Em's track/story, it could've been Jeff, Chad, Billy, etc.....so if Nas doesn't flip it the way he did then it's just another name/character in a story.
That's not taking away from the impact Eminems song had or how much of a hit it was, just that it didn't have the meaning it has today UNLESS Nas uses it the way he does.
Not even a real comparison......people have to be misunderstanding for the poll to be so close (no surprise there).

The way we use it is connected to Nas but of course Eminem wrote about as great a song he was capable of making in "Stan".

Thank you for proving my point. It don't matter what time frame the artist created the concept. The first person to use it is the creator and that's the person who should get more credit.

Now I clearly see why yo fukked up hairline gap tooth goofy lookin ass is the WOAT of this board.

Eminem created the concept, Nas was the first to apply it

The first rapper maybe, like I said that was gonna be message board slang either way as people were already using it. At bare minimum it would have been just as popular as any other meme/internet jargon specific to rap fans online even without Nas.

Now Beyonce has 'stans' who might not even know where the term came from in this day and age, it's gone outside of just 'our' crowd so he has to be credited as well.

Nas because fukk Feminem :manny:

:russ: Im a Nas fan but you nikkas is bugging.

And please, explain what a Stan is for real.

Eminem painted the perfect description of character in a multiplatinum selling single that Nas used in his diss a year later.

When Nas said it, nobody had to Google the reference, therefore it's impossible for Nas to be credited with its popularity.
