No Limit had no impact outside of flooding the market with a bunch of mediocre rappers/albums and biting nikkas shyt like crazy

CMR had bigger impact. People need to stop trying to associate their success with No Limit. They were moving units in the South when P was still trying to be like Dru Down and the Luniz:mjlol:

Keyword, CMR was moving units in The South. Before No Limit blew, CMR was regional. Once No Limit blew, it was a no brainer for CMR. It was a similar style, but CMR was more polished sonically and Mannie's production was more progressive. After No Limit, CMR was national. They received a bigger platform than what they had. Additionally, they were on Universal through a deal that Tony Draper helped negotiate.

No Limit was already covering The Source, XXL, getting heavy play on MTV and BET. They had platinum and gold albums.

Nobody should comment in this thread unless you're 34, 35+ and actually experienced how crazy that No Limit run was.

Shyt will never happen again.

Agreed.
Im 29....too young too comment.
My wife's sister listens to No Limit literally on a daily basis and she's 37.

Must have been a GOAT era.

Ok yeah I'm arguing with a Stan:mjlol:

No Limit ain't have no damn platinum or gold albums from 1993-1996:gucci:

CMR was gonna blow without No Limit regardless. They didn't need them, especially seeing how they remained relevant and had hits into the 21st century, where as NL was done by 2000:scust:

I'm not a stan.

I never said they had platinum and gild albums from '93-'96. Master P had a gold album in 1996. They did in fact have several gold and platinum albums while CMR was still regional. You can sit there and say CMR was going to blow regardless, but nothing indicates that they would have considering how long the label existed and nothing major happened until AFTER No Limit impacted. Mystikal before signing to No Limit was bigger than CMR.

If anyone's stanning here, its you. You're clearly in yiur feelings talking about No Limit's mediocre rappers, when the thread isn't even about that.

:mjlol: @ No Limit being a bigger impact. Damn near everything they did, they stole from someone else.

Granted they did a lot of biting, but their impact is undeniable. Dropping an album every Tuesday for a year is noteworthy and while a lot of it wasn't essential listening, there were gems like:

Unpredictable
Shell Shocked
Life or Death
7 Sins
Am I My Brother's Keeper
World War III
There's One In Every Family
Street Life
Charge It 2 Da Game
TRU 2 Da Game
Unlady Like
Ice Cream Man
Ghetto D

Off topic, but could nolimit have had a little longer run if they kept BBTP?

I went back to look at there discography and I have to say probably not. Those albums towards the end with BBTP just weren't the same quality, and understandably so. Those guys probably had nothing left creatively.

I don't think No Limit ser itself up for longevity. 1999 was pivotal, but that is where everything started to crumble. Just looking at what No Limit had, it seemed to be headed in the right direction where P was building the label around MAC:

Mac- this is where the focus needed to be. He was on some of theor bigger hits like "Wobble, Wobble" heading into the new millennium

Mercedes- "I Can Tell" and a couple of other joints should've been pushed. The R&B is what distinguished them from CMR.

504 Boyz- The original line up should've remained. They even had a Neptunes track, but Mystikal wasn't featured on the song and he crossed over a few months later with a Neptunes track

Ke'Noe- young, hungry producer that had been with No Limit since '98, but was under used after BBTP left

DIG- heavily featured, but no album

no limit had the impact but a lot of the music put out was absolute trash. master p is a supreme biter but when he was good, he was good

i’m partial to cash money myself so :yeshrug: they ended up sticking around longer too.

Nope. That sound got played out and dropping every week only made it get stale even quicker. Add in the fact they gave so many great beats to weak low level artists.

Cash Money has been relevant over 25 years and been able to rebrand themselves almost a dozen times. No Limit had a brief run as a big dog but they were never the top label in the game.

You serious? No Limit was #1 from late 97 (after Bad Boy) to mid-99 (before Ruff Ryders and CMR) easily, dropping tons and tons of gold/plat/multiplat albums, south/midwest/west was bumpin' MP/Silkk/TRU/C/Snoop/Mystikal etc heavily
