Who here has been through a lay-off?

Folks got let go yesterday no warning and there are more to come. Who here has been hit by a lay off and how did you deal? 
Been laid off once. Had some money saved to fall back on and collected unemployment checks. I didn't even bother looking for work for a month. I eventually found a job and that was before the checks got cut off. I definitely budgeted more tightly than when I was working. I will say it taught me a lesson that you should never keep to much stuff at work. I try to make sure that anything I take with me can fit in a small bag if even that if I get axed abruptly.
