Who is better pharrell or timbaland

Timbo by a mile. Its really not even close. Lotta folks in here are young so Pharrell is more relevant. They have no clue how extensive Timbo's discography is. Timbo changed the entire sound of the top 40. I think even pharrell would say tim is better if you asked him.

Timbo is probably the better beat maker but pharrell is better at creating a song!

Timbo creates the beat and that's it usually.

Pharrell will create a beat, hook, concept etc. his song writing ability is underrated as fukk.

D.O.I. - What roles do you and Pharrell play when making music?

Chad - We really don't have a specific role, but Pharrell usually makes the drum patterns since he was a drummer. He also makes most of the melodies for our beats. I sometimes make the melodies as well but I never write the lyrics. As the Neptunes, I'm sort of like a one man band. For instance, if Pharrell comes up with the drums, I either replay the pattern with different sources, or at some live drums to his pattern. Then I add some sounds to the drums and arrange it for it to be mixed.


Like I said..pharrell puts in all the work

Basically pharell brings the jiffy cornbread mix...

chad adds the milk,eggs,butter and mixes the shyt together to make the cornbread ready for the oven...

Chad is a really talented musician, way more than Pharrell whos better at crafting beats. Listen to the beats Pharrell did from In My Mind to HHNF....Chad wasnt helping with those, and while dope, they sound a bit...sparse, compared to older Neptunes material.

Im not sure what role Chad plays now, but Pharrell's beats have gotten a lot better in the last 2 years or so

basically pharrell isn't anything without chad, they need to work together for magic. case in point - that good kid beat is a leftover from an N*E*R*D album.

Ima go with Timbaland as the better producer but by a small margin. Both of them have classics and both of them are versatile as hell. So their is really no wrong choice. But I've always liked Timbo's sound more
