Messi, pretty comfortably.

I mean, what he's doing is freaking unreal. His 4 Ballon d'Ors and having 3 CL titles and 5 liga titles at his age :what: While scoring goals at an incredible pace.

I agree with dude saying he's basically breaking Wilt Chamberlain type of soccer records. His 50 goals in a season in spain is unbreakable, unless he does it himself. The season is 38 games, to score 50 is :dwillhuh: .

The original Ronaldo was known to be probably the best scorer of all-time. In professional games with his national team and club teams he scored 466 goals in 677 games.

Messi has scored 320 goals in 432 games :damn: and he hasn't even reached his prime :damn:

At this pace he will pass the original Ronaldo in goals scored less than two years, he'll be 27 just entering his prime and already outscored the GOAT scorer :damn:

Messi = Wilt of soccer

and like Wilt, until he wins the world cup I can't really consider him the GOAT

Ronaldinho won a world cup along with all the club throphies and Ballon D'Ors plus his game was aesthetically pleasing to watch. I like Messi but he has to win a world cup for me to put him in class with Zidane and Dinho.

Is it really fair to say in a sport that is extremely team oriented AND in a tournament where he can only have Argentinians on his team that he has to win the world cup in order to be the GOAT?

Are Aregentinians known for having great footballers?

*is only a casual soccer fan at best, but i respect the sport*

Because it's hard enough comparing players from different eras in the same sport, let alone players from different eras in different sports. The variables of 'measurement' are endless and are simply unmeasurable. The whole premise of this thread is unmeasurable.

"This is the equivalent of LeBron breaking all of Wilt's scoring records." Let's have a look - he'd have to average at least 50.5 PPG in a full season + scoring at least 101 points in a game (plus all of Wilt's scoring career-records that can be levelled out in a season) - it can't be done, certainly not in this day and age.
