Truth be told, I've been rocking the same style of clothing for a lil over 20 years now. I still have Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers pieces that I was rocking in high school in the 90's, that I can still rock today. That's why I always tell my young boys, don't dress for the now. Don't follow trends because you see your favorite rapper doing it. Set the tone and wear clothing that you genuinely like and will stand the test of time.

Also another thing is back in the 80's and early 90's, nikkas up here (I don't know how it was in other areas) wasn't doing the mall too tough. The only people from the hood up here that was doing the mall heavy were either the drug dealers, people who had some paper, into fashion like that, or was working at a mall. Mid/late 90's was when you saw a surge of us shopping at the mall (and by then they already had urban hip hop stores geared towards us). Before that, in the downtown areas, you had a lot of urban stores that sold urban gear and was easily accessible to the public (and still to this day). Late 80's, the average kid from the hood wasn't really up on Polo, Hilfiger, Aeropostale too tough. The OG's from my hood, who were heavy in the streets, were the ones who really put me up on Polo, Hilfiger, and Brooks Brothers back in 87/88, when the the hot wardrobe of choice were track suits or Dapper Dan velour suits (and how long did Dapper Dan last?). Once I became 13 and started making my own money, I gravitated more towards that style of clothing because, as history shows, most urban brands be here today and gone tomorrow, while top tier labels usually last a lifetime. I do however commend labels like Sean John or even Stussy for standing the test of time tho.

Great thread! That Fat Albert phase was when I completely stopped messing with them. Jumped over to Rocawear and Sean John that summer

i would probably still rock a hat or maybe a simple shirt with just the classic logo on it but nothing much

:stop:
Boi, boi, boi...let a nikka find out :stopitslime:

FUBU died for two reasons I can think of:

1) Their designs just started getting :trash: WHO THE fukk wonna wear some shiny ass, stiff jeans?

2) When them J's started coming to the Trap in that shyt. They atcha door like :stylin: in some fukkin FUBU. That let you know right then that shyt dead.

Oh and when ya pops/moms/aunties started rockin the shyt all wrong...

Was at the club not too long ago and my nikkas pointed at a nikkas shoes......:krs:.....nikka had on a pair of FUBU sneaks!!! He went from being a possible legitimate nikka too instant duck status.

The other day I couldn't find any clean jeans to put on so I check to see what was hanging in my closet and find some old Fubu jeans I had. :ohhh:

Instead of putting them on, I left them there and wore some slacks instead. I would rather walk in shorts on a snowy day than to ever put on a Fubu again.
