Chicago can never get credit for a genre. I've seen people online saying House came from NY and the UK too. :francis:
I've seen that too. Lmao.
Were probably the most discredited big city when it comes to anything involving musical contributions.

It's because the city is not a media giant like NY, London, l.a. etc.

NY didn’t take shyt from them. They ripped beats off YouTube that were labeled “G Herbo DJ L type beats” and those happened to be produced by no-name UK drill producers on anonymous YT accounts.

This is a myth NYC was 100% influenced by Chicago and had its own drill type thing going on through the homegrown street DVD’s in the late aughts before drill even was a thing
Yeah you can listen to DJ L and know immediately that’s where they got the sauce from

BX, NYC
NYC was not influenced by Chicago. By the time NYC started making drill, Chicago drill was already on the decline. UK Drill has influenced a lot of countries outside of the US too.
Yes it was all them kids looked up to G herbo, LA Capone, Lil Durk, etc

A lot of their street name and stage names were inspired by them

No one here listened to UK drill

Chicago…

Chief Keef actually brought a new energy with Drill and even had Akademiks covering the escapades of Chiraq.

Apparently, that BFTD tape aged well considering how most rappers now followed that template. For a moment they bought the energy back since Bump J was locked up.

Ironically Lupe Fiasco was the most thugged out before Keef but his flew over a lot of heads.

What happened to DJ L???

Does he even still get any placements??

I don’t even think that Durk uses him or Dree The Drummer like that anymore.

That 2012-2015 wave era of Drill was a time to be alive.

Naw That's cap.

The UK drill wasn't even a distinct subgenre untill like 2017/18.

Them brooklyn and bx boys were literally rapping like g herbo, la capone etc etc. In like 2014/15/16.

Nobody was paying attention to the UK like that back then :heh::mjlol:
