I know swag was always apart of hip hop but who was it that actually popularized the term and style and made it a mainstream thing?

I'd say the diplomats were the precursors to the swag movement, but it seems like something that would've started in cali, like the bay or something :ohhh:

swag just means style so nobody invented it exactly, but the current definition of swag is just dressing like a gay guy - tight pants snap back shades - so i would say some cac somewhere started that

its funny now hearing older songs that say swag or swagger....

same as hearing songs pre-Lil Jon talking about gettin crunk...

just know that once a term reaches the mainstream its already been run into the ground

Idk what the fukk the swag movement is?
It's seems like kids (mostly cacs) have tried to define it as the "new" hiphop attire, with the sneakers, straight/nearly skinny jeans, snapback etc.

Just thinking back who was the first person to use swag as style? Cam's diss to to Hov is the earliest I can think of..

"Swag" not "Swagger" was like a go to word for Southern rappers like TI, Jeezy, Wayne, and Soulja

ON the Jay z joint, the ruler's back off the blueprint, Jay z says " I got my swagger back". That was released on 9-11 and that was the first time in the modern era that I heard the term in hip hop. Hated it ever since.
