What makes someone socially awkward is going to vary depending on the community they are in.

The qualifiers in both of those are awkward and obsessed. Neither are dependent on ones actual intellect.

The issue at hand is people are basing their definitions off of 90s tv shows lol.

With this logic all of our prominent Black Scholars were Nerds.

Once again the qualifier for nerd is ones social awkwardness.

Intelligence and Discipline have nothing to do with being a nerd. You are a nerd when your obsessiveness of something creates a social awkwardness.

We ignorantly correlate Nerd to doing what your are suppose to do as it is an easy way for nerds to make themselves feel better about their situation. This in turns helps fuel the Anti intellectual culture as Nerds are saying they are outcast because they are "Smart" when the truth in matter is it is because they are weird.
Full Definition of nerd
  1. : an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits
    Definition of NERD

Nerd = Obsessive
Dweeb = Weak
Geek = Intelligent

I think Nerd would be the overall person while Geek would relate to the thing they are obsessing over.

But even then both are used interchangeable.

ie.Comic book Nerd & Comic book Geek.

either way neither speaks on ones overall intelligence but only to ones expertise on a particular thing to the point they are obsessive and develop a social awkwardness from it.

in the second definition if you take out the word "intelligent" it would no longer be the correct definition for a nerd

just admit the premise of your thread is wrong and stop tryna argue with dictionaries breh

no, having vast knowledge of something you obsess over does not make you "smart".

Once again nerds are not unpopular for their knowledge of a subject, it is due to their obsessiveness that turns into social awkwardness.
