I mean Cp3 is the overall superior player. But I asked who you taking on your squad. Not 1 on 1. CP3 can't even get to the conference finals and I'm not even sure I'd take Cp3 over GP in a 1 on 1 matchup either. GP would lock that man up and give him work in the post on the offensive end.

GP wouldn't reach the CF in CP3's shoes either

Please. GP wouldn't be getting embarrassed by Steph nearly as much as CP does. You'd have a better chance getting out the 2nd round with Payton than you would Paul.

A GP led team isn't beating the Warriors :laff:

while cp3 had some really embarrassing playoff moments lets not forget how payton was one of the leaders of the team that lost as the 1st seed to the 8th sed for the first time nba history
and then next year losing to damn lakers that were much weaker than that sonics squad

gary payton made it to the conference finals twice as the leader of the team, which is obviously more than cp3 has done, but at the same time it doesn't show that he was getting there easily

GP is an inferior player that doesn't carry near CP3's offensive impact. How do you have a better shot of making a CF with GP in CP3's shoes?

GP is a bigger more physical guard and in his prime, I believe he would be a nightmare for these elite pgs. I think CP3 is the better passer but I think GP is the better scorer because he could stretch the defense and also work in the post.

I can see that.GP could take you in the post and get buckets.

He had a knuckle ball J, tho.I was surprised anytime it went in.

CP3's definitely has a superior J/ 3pt shot.He'd thrive in any era.

I wonder how effective GP would be in this era? Career 31% 3pt shooter.

His post up game was effective in the 90's, but even then, it was slow developing & rugged.

He was never really that crisp, quick, or graceful on the offensive end.
This era.. a better Patrick Beverly lol

Wouldv've expected GP's scoring average to be lower than that tbh, especially because of his last years.

CP0 overated, but let's not forget GP was on those Sonics squads that got bounced in the first round. So there's that too. I'll go with Payton if I mostly need someone who controls the pace, plays great defense and can score (including posting-up, usefull in the playoffs), with CP0 if I need more of a scoring PG. But I guess a lot of depends on who is my number one guy, because I don't think you can win with either as your first option.
