I am still of the opinion that a superstar talent that does well alongside other superstars is far more impressive than a single superstar who puts up gaudy numbers on slightly above average teams.

Durant is a great player and he will finish as one of the best ever.
But he won't approach Jordan or Lebron. Their overall value metrics are just too far ahead.
He'd have to go on a historical run for the next 4 years to have a shot. Not out of the realm of possibility, but I'll bet against it.

He's doing more than approaching Lebron breh, he's taking his sh*t :francis:

Bring up Michael Jordan having a higher career PPG like Kevin Durant hasn't played with Russell fukking Westbrook his entire career and now Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson brehs.

Not saying MJ isn't the GOAT scorer, but PPG shouldn't be the reasoning.

Stop the madness it's easy to look good when you're playing with 3 other All Stars... one of them being the leagues back-to-back MVP.

So Kevin Durant being a phenomenal scorer is a sudden revelation that stems from him playing with 3 other All-Stars? So those 4 scoring titles never happened huh?

Assuming the other superstars still get theirs I highly agree. KD is able to get his while Curry still goes for 30, that's what makes them so dope :wow: Kyrie, Love, Wade, Bosh, all had to take a back seat to Bron :francis:

He's outplaying Lebron by a smidge in these 1st two games.
And he's on a much better team. Let's not judge this stuff in a vacuum.

Teammates (or rather, I should say teammate performance) matters.

Which is fam. You had dudes saying Russel was the alpha. Now it's who he's playing with hurting his stats. You're absolutely correct but the convo is dumb. Because its not like Jordan was some AI like chucker. dude shot 50% from the field most of his career. good lord with Curry and Thompson on the same team as Jordan, he could easily shoot 60 percent.

His big 2 is performing well too. The difference is the Warriors bench are ridiculous. pairing players like Iggy, West, McGee, Livingston, etc...and of course Draymond. its crazy.

Michael Jordan :gucci:
Dude averaged 30 for a career, and that's counting those BS years in Washington. Durant's averaged 30 twice in his whole career.

Take out the Washington years and MJ has a career average of 31.5ppg, KD's only had one season better than that career average.

KD's best season is 32ppg, MJ has 5 years averaging more than that. Man was averaging 37ppg, 35ppg, etc. :mindblown:

Mans' CAREER playoff average was 33.4ppg
He AVERAGED 41/8.5/6.3 against the Suns in the finals with guys like Dan Marjle on him :yeshrug:
To be fair Durant played with a PG who thinks he's Kobe and now plays with 2 of the best 3 shooters we've ever seen in a pass-happy system. If KD played for a team where he was undoubtedly #1 he'd have more 30 PPG seasons.

Their offensive numbers are nearly even.
Durant has played better defense and avoided turnovers.

I'd say there's a difference between them...sure. And I'd certainly give Durant the edge here.
But if the statistics were exactly the same and Cleveland was up 2-0, I doubt anybody would be saying Durant is snatching Lebron's soul.

A year ago I would've said Jordan no question but after watching Durant give LeBron that work in these Finals I'm slowly having a change of heart.

35.5 PPG :damn:
10.5 RPG :damn:
7.0 APG :damn:
1.5 SPG :damn:
2.5 BPG :damn:
56.3 FG% / 50.0 3P% / 90.9 FT% :damn:

This has to be the best Finals performance ever through the first 2 games. :wow:

I think Durant will firmly be in the GOAT discussions 5 years from now if he strings 4/5 rings together with this sort of dominating play against the consensus best player of his generation.
Jordan is a 9 time scoring champ and avg 40 in the finals before also avg 35 32 and 33...nikka wtf is wrong with you young nikkas :dwillhuh:

You casuals are REALLY not able to wrap your head around the basics. So let me help you.

KEVIN DURANT was an MVP.
After KEVIN DURANT became MVP... STEPH CURRY.. became MVP. TWICE.
THEY ARE ON THE SAME TEAM.

Also on that team: Klay Thompson and Idiot Green.

That's FOUR ALL-STARS.

This means KEVIN DURANT... has a LOT MORE SPACE than before, when he managed to become MVP.

Is the quarter falling? Are you getting this message? Or are you SO uneducated about sports that even this message is not clear enough.

HE HAS WAAAAAAY MORE OPPORTUNITY AND SPACE TO SCORE. DUH.

NOOO YOU CASUAL, NOOOO he is not a better scorer than Jordan. NO.

Casuals really outchea starting the KD MJ conversations over 2 games.. where KD is on the team that beat his old team... wow.

Has anybody in NBA history played with a 2 time MVP as the #2 option on their team?
