I actually think that most of them have the fear of "getting a regular job", so they play Russian roulette with investments; because they do not want the responsibility of having an actual job, and being involved in the daily operation. Even though at that level, you wouldn't be involved in the day-to-day if you had the correct folks working with you.

The irony is that they end up with broadcasting gigs, doing exactly that.

listen these athletes are failed by their parents and coaches from the time they are in AAU and pop warner… they aren’t allowed to be kids as they are made to focus on sports 100% of the time and can’t do shyt else… it’s why you see the majority of them have zero social skills and lack no self awareness so when it’s time for these kids to get to college or drafted they are easily taken advantage of by boosters and scumbag agents half the time facilitated by their scumbag parents who lookin for a bag themselves

shyt is a dirty fukkin game..

Ever notice legacy kids whose parents played pro sports turn out in better positions in college and when they drafted? Ask yourselves why is that.. answer is simple

Watching this Big Baby clip and he is pretty much saying that the NBA/NBAPA is doing a horrible job at making sure former players are straight once their playing days are over. He mentions Delonte West as a former player who is struggling and needs help. He also says nobody from the NBA/NBAPA called him to check on him when he was going through hard times.

Athletes have so many more options than we do but they refuse to take accountability, refuse to use the resources available to them and when they blow through their money or didn't save, they want to blame everyone else but themselves.

Easy, save your money and live off a high rate savings account or be like that guy who owns over a hundred Wendy’s restaurants

Now to big baby, you can tell with the way he acts he’s always trying to get somebody’s else approval. That’s how he got involved in this fraud mess, he probably didn’t even need the money.

Glen Davis career earnings was 32 million.

Cut that in half with taxes and agent fees thats $16 milly. If you don't know how to survive for the rest of your life off of 16 million USD then God help you cause I could give af:manny:

Real estate, high yield savings, safe stocks with a steady low yield, hell alot of these leagues have generous pensions like come on now what else you need.

All of the above.

1st - Player. It’s your your life, money, career. You gotta have ownership and ensure you maximize your time in the league to set you up for post career

2nd and 3rd - League and agents. You gotta set your players and clients up for success. It’s irresponsible if they don’t

Team owners have a vested interest in ensuring that most athletes remain irresponsible. That's why despite making millions the athletes always fold during collective bargaining negotiations because they spend money like water and the owners get the upper hand during lockouts. It's simple math, if athletes want to maintain their lifestyles after retirement they need to be saving and investing at least 70% of what they make.

It's all about the family. Look at how Kobe (RIP), Grant Hill, Curry carry themselves vs most athletes. It's not a coincidence that they came from stable two-parent households.

Same people that prepare lottery winners...its on them. nikkas can talk all day about not being prepared. But lets keep it a buck...if you are 19 with guaranteed Ms who is about to tell you anything? The average broke 19 yr old aint tryna hear shyt. Hopefully you have a strong support system and good examples but its gonna come down to you. Unfortunately a lot of these dudes are overgrown children who dont care until that other shoe drops :francis:.

16 mil aint shyt if you living like you got 32 and will always have it. Not an excuse because its still on the individual but I think people fail to consider how easy it is to go broke and into debt when you have a lot of money. Its actually easier because you can get tricked into believing its limitless and act accordingly.
