I dnt wanna sound ignorant but what are charter schools? It's been a lot of talk bout them on here and in Miami lately..

If you want to read about a hot mess, look up Deion Sanders and his charter schools in Texas.

Lol u funny bruh...bt really the issue of education is a big topic...we need more ideas before we decide who's right or wrong...
Look man I don't disagree with your narrative of young individuals needing to work hard, in order to see the rewards of success, because they could be given far worse predicaments to live under with even less resources and infrastructure, I get it, but...

While dats a good idea with the charter schools...I think focusing on that is ignoring the core problems...black kids (mostly boys) just dnt value education that much...it's not "cool" to be smart in the black community..ironically black women attend college more than any other demographic bt yet they get with those bad ass kids who shun school thus giving more black boys the ideas that you have to be bad to get some girls...my whole point is if the kids dnt wanna learn they won't...we have to change our mindset then worry bout funding n stuff...the mindset change have to start at the house...

I agree totally that it starts at home, but the point is what we changed the school curriculum and the changed the way the school functions to compensate for my receiving the proper guidance at home

Charter schools don't represent extra funding they represent the opportunity to change schools completely and run them in a different way

Yesterday, I accompanied a family member on a campus tour that's preparing to go to university this fall. Just for the hell of it because I had nothing else worthwhile to do and I was interested in seeing the university in person, myself. Two tour vans bused us throughout the campus.

All
the black people sat in one.

All
the whites in the other.

:pachaha: I know you gravitate towards what's familiar, but the families were uncomfortable as all hell.

Dats a tough task...charter schools are up against a school system dats over 100 years old...it's hard to convince people to change when they dnt necessarily see a problem dat needs to be changed...I for one dnt think our public school system is that bad...I've seen others (immigrants like my self) do way more with less...the focus still has to be on the students...a fancy building with ipads to replace books wont mean nothing if the kids dnt wanna learn...dats the core problem dat we cnt move on from till it's solved...

All I am gonna say is that it is in the bible belt, rural south and there are even places MUCH worse than the area my sociology teacher is at. Infact, the other surrounding areas are much more conservative and racist.

You damn near have to live within relatively large cities in the bible belt if you aren't white or a republican to escape the bigotry and rampant segregation. So many rednecks and nearly every white person is a republican in the rural south.

I grew up in the city and even though it wasn't "We Are The World" in terms of racial harmony, there were a lot more cohabitation and interaction between races than I noticed when I left to go to college. It was not unusual to see an Asian family, hispanic family, black family and white family live on the same exact street without anyone noticing growing up for me. I wouldn't say racism didn't exist but it was VERY difficult to lead a racist lifestyle and stick to your own kind. That shyt simply doesn't exist in the rural south and people would often "stick to their own kind" when going to school, choosing housing, making friends, etc.

I even had to break up with one white girl after she told me if her mom ever caught wind she was dating interracially she would be CUT OFF permanently from her entire family. Her parents were even sketchy about her hanging around black people too. Her family was from a small rural town. Sad world brehs...:sas2:

So u just not gone tell us wat city it is huh :beli:

It's the rural south breh, you can literally throw a dart at a map of the bible belt with your eyes closed and hit a segregated town.:heh:

It's not a unique problem, its pretty widespread tbh. It would be useless naming places since nearly every town would be named EXCEPT the actual cities with a population of around 100k+ people.

There are places MUCH WORSE like in rural Louisiana where it still remains VERY heavily segregated.(Where Duck Dynasty is located) Pretty much the only black friendly places in the south are the cities and even then there are some confederate flag waving idiots complaining about how "Yankee transplants" are ruining the southern cities by making it diverse and progressive. I would say that approx 90% of every rural town in the south is segregated. Some are racist and segregated for a reason and some are segregated out of "tradition" and class issues rather than an animosity towards black people. I could rattle off a list but nearly every place that isn't a city would pop up. Just remember to keep away from the backwoods of anywhere and you good breh!:aicmon:

yep neg rep officially pending for that slick shyt....

It's the south/bible belt breh, everywhere that ISN'T a city is segregated. That was the entire point of the story. :what: It would be easier to name places that AREN'T segregated. Stop being dense. :why:

I've been to well over several dozen places in my life and nearly every place that WASN'T a city was segregated. That was why I said stay away from the rural south instead of listing specific areas or towns. I would had a list of over 400+ areas/towns if I did that.
