Dont mention Kane with LL...

LL is Mt Rushmore

to clarify my statements, please dont look at it as if I am comparing Kane or G. Rap to L as far as record quality or sales at that time but merely saying those two, Juice Crew, rise of labels like Cold Chillin changed the lyrical landscape at those precise moments. For a while, L was an elite lyricist and for a good period considered the best, once the landscape shifted he was no longer lyrically elite, although he was still an elite and successful artist.

if we are talking impact on Hip Hop, L is waaaaaaaay above guys like Kane. Run DMC as a group and L as a solo artist were responsible for taking the next giant step for rap.

Accidental racist, then him thinking he different than other black people because he think he didn't descend from slaves. Even though they didn't tracehis ancestry back far enough.

In 1995 after the mr.smith album

That’s the same period he ventured into tv, with his tv show and transition into movies

So at that point , I felt he knew def jam was trash, so there’s no point to make a quality album anymore

Still top 10 tho

You can't call your album goat and have it turn out to be a weedplate ‍:yeshrug:

its crazy how LL gets punished for releasing bad albums in the twilight of his career, but nobody is dropping jay-z, nas and all these other rappers that have put out tons of bad music past their prime. hell, a lot of them put out wack chit in the midst of their glory years.

what its REALLY about is the lack of respect hip-hop fans have for history. people that don't rank LL, usually just aren't familiar with him like that.

It’s weird but I would much rather dwell on how he was still one of Rap’s biggest stars in 95/96 with Mr. Smith in spite of how drastically the genre had changed

Hey Lover
Doin It
Loungin Remix
I Shot Ya

The memories the memories!

LL lasted like 20 fukkin years...what more could you ask for?
