This nikka cutting my hair and every minute he has to stop to :
check his phone for a message
make a quick phone call
change the tv channel
change the music playing on the radio
holla at some chick walking outside
See someone he knows walking outside and meet him a for a minute talk
Talk to his fellow barbers

All this shyt happening in the middle of a fukking haircut and he has the nerve to expect a tip. :camby:

What’s wrong with being a professional and actually concentrating 100% on your client and making sure you give him the best haircut possible? :what:
:mjlol: So that "Barbershop" episode of "Atlanta", that aired earlier this year, is realistic?:

:dwillhuh: why are you asking this...you should know already :gucci:

And yeah I feel OP but I always figured it's because of the service nature and culture of the profession...

Them nikkas gotta hustle and have they fingers in 10 different "revenue" streams and they just don't have to be professional period.

It's almost like they brand themselves to be as unprofessional as possible :mjlol:

Usually the ones who doing all that shyt are the ones who cold with the clippers...so they cocky in they ability and don't fear fukking up your shyt. 9 times out of 10 they wont, but you'll be in that mufukka for a min.

My lil bro old barber took 30 mins per cut, had to switch up barbers cause that was ridiculous.
Just described my current barber. He's been cutting my hair for a year because my longtime barber moved to Atlanta so had to find a new barber. Dude is notorious for taking phone calls, ordering food from the food truck that comes by or the sister that be bringing barbecue plates, etc. Dude is too cold though and I've tried other shops but nobody can cut like him so far so I keep going back though. He's funny as hell too. I just come to accept it. :yeshrug:

I think internet forums/social media provide some of the "talking shyt / socializing / peer bonding" that used to be one of the draws of barber shop culture. Only now, people are exposed to views of people outside of their local area.
Right, a lot of the shyt being called misogynist these days on social media were fairly common talking points back in the day. Keeping your woman in check, how to bag multiple hoes, unpopular political opinions....all type of shyt like that was unfiltered talk.

In the movie Barbershop, this was examined with how everyone in real life got up in arms when Cedric's character said fukk Jesse Jackson, people lost their shyt with that line. Nowadays fukk Obama is not uncommon at all too see on black twitter and facebook.

agree. In the film, it was the MLK slander that got people upset.
People have said outragous shyt in babershops, and I like how the film was shot and edited to show people screaming on Cedric's character and arguing against his point (if I recall correctly)

The coldest barber to ever cut my hair had the worst breath.Man his breath was a mix between doodoo and a leaking garbage truck in the summer. And he could talk with no filter
but my god if he gave you a haircut, your girl is going to give you p*ssy that night.

A barber I used to go to one time left in the middle of a haircut just to go grab a laptop charger from his car , like is that really necessary?:francis:

And when I was young I was waiting for 30 minutes, when its finally my turn one of his boys came in and bumped me in line and both of em didnt even care to acknowledge me.

I'm glad that place got shut down tho, shop was always dirty and they didnt seem professional.

The new guy I go to has his own appointment schedule and if hes too busy he got other barbers on deck that do an amazing job, and the shop is always kept clean. It's a home like environment :yeshrug:
