To be clear here... I am not talking about brothers that set goals and bust their azz to accomplish them (even if they fall well short)

I'm talking about the ones that just say "I was born ready. Wheres my signing bonus at?"

Over confidence has always been the biggest weakness of black Americans.

Confidence itself is a strength. Too much of it and you become so full of yourself and underestimate every challenge which then leads to massive failure.

As I have said many many many many times on this board the one i hate the most and make me wanna stab'em is when they say "mark my words"

I swear there are few things in this world that irritate me more than those words.

Anyone who has a dream that is considered unrealistic has to be overconfident because they obviously don't have the backing of others. I agree that a back up plan should be set up though..I don't dispute that. I agree everyone can't be an entertainer or athlete but there are other things that black males shoot for that are considered only reality for a few. The Nigerian is on here talking about pushing his own product yet folks still find a way to isht on his dream. Now is he wrong for continuing to be highly confident and going forward with what he wants to do?

So I'm confused at the topic...is is about black males being too confident when pursuing dreams and goals of being successful? Or is it about black males not targeting different paths to becoming successful?

:mindblown:

No one hates on the Nigerian. That guy is a bold face liar and what people consider hatin is just asking him legitimate questions that he can not answer because he's full of :duck:. He's like B-rabbit's friend in 8 mile. By his own admission he is the black Tucker Max. Google that name and it'll make sense.

That's the whole point of this conversation. This over inflation of worth is to mask insecurities in failures. Dudes can't even ask questions without people resorting to "why you hating". How do you expect to make it without setbacks? If you dismiss criticism as hatred how does one grow?

And that's why black males are in an extended childhood.

Yup self-aggrandizement to the fullest extent.

Cuz we got big dikks :ohhh:

I'm glad my Dad passed me on his good genetics.

I can't imagine being a Black man with a small dikk :whew: .

I remember a couple of months back on the bodybuilding forum, some black dude made a thread about how he's a virgin and doesn't want to lose his virginity because he's afraid of what girls would think of his 5 inch dikk.

I always gotta  when dudes go on about "Dead beat rappers".
Like there aren't a bunch of middle class/lower class
WHITE MEN
who didn't amount to anything trying to be Rock stars and Sport stars.

Go to your local guitar center and it's rife with these sorts of individuals.
With that said a lot of young black men have the same absurd dreams as 90% of
the population and they usually wide up in jobs that aren't even remotely close to
what they dreamed of....like 90% of the population.

I do agree however that most people should choose realistic goals.
You can't tell these nikkas that. Thats why you see these low key white worship threads. nikkas sound just as bad as white supremacist with these generalizations of black men.

He was just an example since everyone is relating this to just blacks pursuing entertainment and sports. My thing was how is this a black male issue? This is characteristic of males of all races and background. You can also say folks are not confident enough and too content with whatever is infront of them.

True, and a lot of these cats look up to these sports stars & rappers....see the fast money & cars. Not realizing most are broke after their career is done or everything is rented, they getting raped by their label.

They're looking up to the wrong role models. These cats need to immerse themselves in somebody like Thurgood Marshall - a Supreme Court judge, had an airport named after him, made an actual difference for our culture, etc. The Black Excellence thread is full of folks who can become one's role model

They care more about perception and looking like they have money and what not vs actually doing the work needed to actually have the money and be able to afford the expensive cars ect.

And looking up to people such as sir Thurgood makes too much sense and it isn't "cool".
